It's a BETA, not early access
Just clarifying since I'm seeing quite a few people ask about the early access. It would make sense for early access to carry over to the full game, but this is specifically being called a BETA, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

That being said, I trust it was just a mistake or lack of foresight when the massive banner said "pre-order and play early". You are definitely playing something early, and using the word "early" definitely implies early access, but you're not playing DARKTIDE early.

If you were playing the game early, then you could criticize what you play, but since it's a BETA, all criticism will be met with, "Well yeah, it's just a BETA you moron! Obviously the full game in two weeks will be flawless and address every one of these problems". I love Vermintide and Vermintide 2, but if this is just the open BETA from a few weeks back, I would avoid buying early.

That BETA was fun for a couple hours, but it was lacking so many features that I genuinely had to force myself through leveling all the classes to 10 to get a somewhat reasonable feel for things. Leveling and progressing in the BETA was slow, weapon variety/acquisition was disappointing, UI and descriptions were lacking, loading took forever on my WD_Black NVMe SSD, but surprisingly the BETA actually ran pretty well for me, consistently around 90 FPS.

The only saving grace would have been if the progress had carried over, which it didn't, and I assume it still won't. So avoid the early BETA if you want to maintain some hype for the game. I was at around a 9 with excitement from when the game was announced, and then the BETA took me down to like a 5. I'll definitely play the game, but I don't expect to be amazed. It honestly felt like more of the fun and enjoyable Vermintide jank, but I was hoping for some real polish and refinement with this release...

"Well yeah, it's just a BETA you moron! Obviously the full game in two weeks will be flawless and address every one of these problems"

I hope you're right.

I remember it specifically saying early access and not ‘beta’

i would love to know where that was as only ever seen play early and its a beta

edit, early access means something on steam and this game claiming it while not following the rules would likely not be good for them

The big text says "PRE-ORDER AND PLAY EARLY", and the tiny text says, "*pre-order beta starts on november 17th"

I'm just trying to tell myself they weren't being purposefully misleading, but if you want to be upset I won't stop you :FF7Rflower:

People treat beta like EA just to level up as far as possible, this is why a wipe should be done before release.

no real reason to, the same people that will use the beta to power level would also do the same when it comes out,

as i remember it's called "pre-launch beta". so it is a bit of both: getting earlier into the game and give some feedback. but do you think they can change something in the last 13 days between pre-launch and full release? perhaps we will get a handful balancing-patches and thats it. in my opinion it is no real beta, just some marketing strategy to sell more copies instead of all players using the gamepass (which has release on the 30th if i am right).

and that's bad? it is coop and not competetive, so everyone with a higher level and more exp benefits your team. you would have the same guys taking holiday to level fast on "normal" release and there will always be people who have much more time and a much higher level than you. otherwise you can pre-order the game too, if you want to play it. so i don't get the problem here :D

Not really
The store announcement which also included the giveaway of VErmintide:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1361210/view/3410940946580887084
only said: " access to play Darktide early for pre-order players,"

And even the pinned announcement here
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1361210/discussions/0/6126609705340179598/
says : "beta"

BTW THX OP to making this post.
I think there is clearly a lot of missconception among many here regarding this beta.

On the other hand, even if it would be called "early access".....even in early access titles it is common to have a wipe. Not a general rule, but is totally normal.

Well i don't see personally any issues with heaving a head start in a PvE game. (i know i won't have that much time to play sitting above a sh**tbucket as many here will do. But i don't mind if they do)
But i see a problem with people deliberately not wanting to accept that this is still a pre-launch beta and not a final game launch for the as some sort of VIP customers.

So all this rant is: "I don't want others to be ahead of me on a co-op game just because I don't want em to"

I agree there is some bitterness behind the intention why OP made this post. Or just forgot middle through while writing it, why he started this post? :D So yeah there is definitely a strong feeling behind it what you described. Sadly.

But still the main point is still valid. Ppl should really not forget that this is only a beta. And build their expectations accordingly.

I couldn't fault the consumer for not realizing it's just a beta. In saying that, I forgive myself. Lol

Like someone said it might have just been ‘play early’ with the ‘beta’ part in deceptively small writing

Did we have any kind of official material to clarify the situation ? Can we expect one the 17th?
Kelset Nov 15, 2022 @ 1:44am
I don't think the game is barely ready, they are just releasing it because of the preorder of the GW's astra militarum limited edition box, that just for pure coincidence has a 15 days preoder window, and it's extremely rare to see something like that.

Ok, Who cares about wipe or not, if it happens it happens, just play again, stop being selfish and entitled.

Second, Who CARES if its EA or a BETA, just play the dam game and help them find bugs.

Stop WHINING.
