Why on earth would they hire Matt Ward?
I already had my doubts about the game when they introduced a low skill panic knifing Call of Duty class.(Ogryn). News about Darktide just keeps getting worse. Hopefully they can salvage it by making Abnett a Senior Story Editor or something.
Vermintide 1 IMDB[www.imdb.com]
Vermintide 2 IMDB[www.imdb.com]
I know some of what he wrote back in the 5th edition was pretty divisive but it seems he's always had some pretty solid stuff right along with the questionable (to downright bad) but it would seem that he and Anders De Geer did the main story stuff for both Vermintides and now they have Abnett on the team as well. It seems like these guys know what they're doing.
Anyway if he does a bad job at least they can use his script in the furnace to keep the building warm, also they can scold him later to make other devs laugh thus keeping the mood up too, win win.
While I do understand that Codex meaned to be a compendium of all %RACE/FACTION%'s glory, latest Space Marine Codexes are... blerrrrrrrrrgh... These could really use some salt. Really.
Starting from direct violation of all principles on which previous lore was built, ending with most blatant deus ex machina I've ever seen.
Space marines.
