Does this game have AI teammates for solo play?

If by AI you mean bots, then yes, but honestly they're not as good as the ones in VT2.
They don't get your gear either, the only thing is that they have a large health and toughness pool.

There is no Solo, best bet would maybe be trying to get into a mission that has like 3 seconds left and hope no one joins. May be a mod that lets you do solo though I have had no reason to look for it. As for the AI, I think all Bots are set to Vet class with basic weapon and outfit.

this game is online with other people ONLY. There are very basic bots before real players join in, but they are pretty useless and can't do anything except follow you around and attack enemies. V2 had pretty solid bots that could be commanded and carry medkits and stuff. I suspect the real designers/programmers from FS left the company years ago. This is why Darktide is inferior to V2 in so many ways.

At the moment, there is no way to start a mission only with bots specifically, although you can start alone without waiting for other players to join and the end of the selection countdown, just by pressing start. In this case, you will have three bots with you, the appearance of which will differ depending on the selected mission difficulty. Bots do not use skills, but they can revive. If your hero dies or flies out of the map when a barrel explodes, the mission will end.
During the mission, live players can join in place of bots.
It is possible to create a private lobby where only one live player / friend is needed, two bots will remain.
Bots are equipped randomly, and I may be wrong, these are only veterans. I have not seen ogryns, but I may be wrong.

No solo play, but the bots are so bad you wouldn't want to play with them anyway. Devs have been promising solo play since before the game released and claim it's still coming. You can't spell Fatshark without Incompetent.

But you can try many more try. Bots are super meh, if dog is on you and bots are busy fighting pox walkers then god bless you. Still, even with trash bots you can heresy-low intensity damnation (at least! used it for penances). Bots are great for holding the line cuz they have crazy stamina reduction and can facetank pack of ragers, lmao.
