I'd use it with a semi-fast high DPS gun, I recommend the Infantry Lasgun specifically the Mark IX (Deadly Accurate for weakspot DPS bonus and Headhunter which compliments the left side talent tree). focus on the left side of the talent tree but pick the Krak Grenade for anti-armor and Fire Team for the extra DPS. Don't go for Survivalist as the Infantry Lasgun and the left side talent tree is very ammo efficient.
Being on the backline you shouldn't worry much about your toughness, but if the situation calls for you to get close and personal then I suggest pairing up with a good melee weapon like the Assault Chainsword (focus on cleave and damage) or the Power Sword (Power Cycler is a must and cleave).
For Toughness Regen, you should be able to get a bunch through Exhilarating Takedown, Confirmed Kill, and/or Catch a Breath. For melee I love the Standard Issue/Mk1 (?) shovel so I just used that for crowd control (keeping enemies staggered and off of me) and the poke will stagger everything except maybe bosses.

I tend to pair it with weapons with high damage to get the most out of the +25% damage and +25% weak spot damage. I will also tend to pair it with weapons that have Surgical as a blessing since it stacks with Deadshot (just below E-stance). Just to list some examples in no particular order:
- Plasma Gun
- Boltgun
- Bolt Pistol
- Kantrael Mk X Laspistol (<--- Really consider this one if you want mobility!)
- Infantry Lasgun
- Revolver
- Hellbore Lasgun
Remember that when you activate Executioner's Stance, it instantly equips your ranged weapon. This helps overcome the slow equip speed some of these weapons have, and makes fast-equipping weapons even faster. If you like Weapons Specialist, remember that it still counts as wielding your ranged weapon and will trigger Ranged Specialist. Some of these guns can deal with crushers and bulwarks quickly, so I will often take Shredder Frags with Grenade Tinkerer to deal with hordes, or at least soften them up. I also bring along a melee weapon with relentless or cleaving strikes or at least something defensive in nature. Shock maul is a good choice, too. An honorable mention should go to the Precision Strikes talent and how it affects melee weapons as well. Another honorable mention can go to smoke grenades, too. You will be able to see certain enemies through the smoke.
