In terms of power level of melee weapons its Knife S tier, Dueling A tier.
The rest isn't even worth mentioning or trying unless you really want to succ and drag your team down.
The only reason to pick a force sword over a knife was the infinite dodges, still the knife was better and they removed the infinite dodges making it useless.
> good horde clear, just spam LMB
> fast attack patterns
> special, while not the best, charges quickly and doesn't stunlock you in position while executing, should be able to one hit ko a rager at least
Deimos has a higher skill ceiling
Deimos has a special attack that penetrates Bulwark's shield and opens them up for your team, Ilisi has a horde nuke that can kill multiple enemies at once with the right blessings.
I personally enjoy Deimos much more, Ilisi playstyle has never grown on me.
The flaw with the force sword is the fact it's only worth taking if you take deflector blessing to make yourself a tank (basically ogryn with shield), which makes you untouchable against all attacks that don't burn, vomit or grab you.
Yeah... the Special attacks are trash, for one.
I do have a build that uses the Deimos though, mainly because of its second attack in its heavy combo; this one can knock down Crushers if you hit them in the face. Yet... I would prefer that the thrust is the first attack in the chain.
I am thinking of just swapping over to a Dueling Sword instead - faster movement that way, and at least all 5 weapon attributes would be in use.
And then they used that model for the mastery skin...
Illisi is the cleaver, it deals in hordes & mixed hordes. Deimos is the single-target specialist, dealing in armor & extreme finesse dmg. That and Illisi special is spammable, making it the fastest way to push your peril up asap when you need it (high peril = more crit, more dmg, toughness regen, max Soulblaze stacks from Vent, etc. depending on your build).
He mains Psyker and has nearly 7k hours played over 2 years. I can pretty much bet my nuts that he has tried literally EVERYTHING possible in the game.
You know that one missing pixel from the textures, behind a barrel on the second mission, under the staircase? Yeah, me neither. But if there was such a thing, he would know about it.
I can't say what's best or not, but since my return to the game, I noticed that force swords were not performing as I was used to 6-7-8 months earlier. That, in combination with the special attack (the main feature) being slow and clunky, I don't see why I should use it over other weapons for anything other than memeing.
But that is just my opinion. The weapon is still viable. Just not as good as other options.
Basically this. I literally pick deimos every time over illisi ever since I found out it one-shots muties. But you really should hit a few mobs to really understand what the difference is. It only takes like 5minutes in the psychanium to understand, so you can build accordingly.
Anything it can do, dueling can do better.
Except for deflect, which isnt bad, but it SHOULD be baseline for FS.
Illsi is power sword but hillariously worse, and without power cycler its not even worth trying out in any mission you dont want to be a drag.
Deimos looks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome and the heavy snipe aint bad .. but it completely falls over when you need to be mobile and kill hordes.
Just take dueling and hope next patch buffs other weapons to 50% of duelings power, and nerfs dueling to its 1/2 of what is now
Illis with a crit melee soulblaze build is disgustingly good, it just requires actual skill due to being a glass cannon of a character. You can't just largely afk walk holding down M1 like most Psyker builds.
