I hope you'll get help, but "friends heard it when watching through discord" ain't a good point. Since me and my friends noticed that Discord has an issue sometimes where sound is patchy and/or stuttery (on streams). For future reference be sure to provide your PC specs and/or a video showing the problem. In any case, gl.

haven't tried these for myself yet

if are still having sound issues, i strongly encourage you to verify the integrity of your files thru steam

at least one part of the base ini files in bundle\application_settings\ includes sound engine settings, so if your ini is out of date or corrupt it could easily be dropping audio channels because it is not correctly configured or optimized for the most current patch

obviously there are some acknowledged bugs in the current build, so i'm not suggesting that could explain everything, but it seems worth it to at least try

a couple other things to tinker with if you have never tried them

windows sound control panel properties

#1. open your audio device in the sound control panel and go to enhancements - make sure that "disable all enhancements is checked."

#2. under advanced - make sure the default audio channel format (24k or 48k etc.) is compatible with your headphones or speakers. sometimes it selects one by default that is not.

#3. uncheck both exclusive mode boxes that say "give exclusive mode applications priority" and "allow applications to take exclusvie control of this device". if you have a headset with a microphone it's a good idea to open your microphone properties and uncheck exclusive mode for that part of the device, too.

#4. under communications for your headphones (and microphone too if it is a headset), make sure that 'when windows detects communications' is set to do nothing instead of reduce volume.

system volume-mixer

#5. there is a longstanding bug with some windows 10 audio processes that can cause issues in the audio data and especially fluctuating volume levels if your volume mixer setting is 100% volume for the per-app settings. if i remember right, it has something to do with some 'dynamic volume adjustments' that can occur on 100% app volume. i don't think the same bug occurs in windows 11.

so keep system-wide volume the same, open darktide and go to the volume mixer and try finding darktide under 'apps' and changing it from 100% down to 90% volume and see if that helps.

in-game

#6. if you are using headhphones make sure your in-game setting is set to 'stereo headphones' or 'auto-detect' and not 'stereo' or '5.1'

#7. check the audio mix preset setting and if it is on anything besides default, try changing that (can over-attenuate loud noises or boost quiet ones above more relevant sounds)

Yeah, get yourself a dedicated good quality sound card, like one of those external USB connected DACs. A lot of integrated audio chips are fairly poor.

What helped me was re-installing my graphics driver and also going into the game audio options, manually setting my audio device to the one I wanted, exiting the game and coming back.

by any chance do you have a raptorlake cpu (13000 or 14000 intel series) with a z790 board?

many people who have updated to the most recent bios are having issues with this

it seems to cause intermittent crashing for some people
but for other people they get audio/video stuttering
