Enemy health bar mod is cheating
It's cheating to use the mod and the amount of people who never spot enemies goes to show how many players are using it. Lame.

Dude this is so different than motion clarity lol. Anyone who says that's cheating is dumb. But this isn't that. Like I don't really care it's not a comp game, but its definitely cheating. It's sidestepping real gameplay mechanics and interactions like low vis and enemy obfuscation. Like idk it's kinda lame because if youre good and you use it you kinda make the game so easy it becomes unfun for other people since you can recognize and kill prio targets easily. LIke yeah if you're good at the game you'll be better at doing that naturally. But just having an instant visible outline to recognize gets to the point of cheating in a game where target recognition in low vis is so important. And yeah you can memorize health numbers to know how many hits or shots to kill something, but you can't memorize exactly how much damage something took at all times and then see how much health the thing has to know like "oh i just need to onetap this thing to kill it" because of the damage it took from other sources. That's outside the normal game past the point of just being like a mechanical ease or something.

Again it's not a comp game and it's whatever. But this gets to the point of being cheating pretty easily IMO. It's not letting me quote but someone said something about it being like someone saying motion clarity is cheating lol. And this isn't that. That would be dumb.

In a game like this where awareness is important, those mods are like steroids for the eyes. It doesn't matter that you can't see through walls. This isnt some top down game with default health bars and with no fog of war, or a card game where situational awareness isnt really important in the same way. Mods like this give you an advantage. I'm just saying its technically cheating. It's not a huge deal in a game like this. But like at least don't say it's not when it obviously is cheating with those mods specifically?

I actually agree. I still use it because it makes the game so much easier, but it is definitely cheating.

I wouldn't call it cheating. It's a crutch for people that obviously lack the necessary skills to perform properly without it. I have never used that mod and never will, its completely pointless in the grand scheme of things because on higher difficulties you will have about 200 health bars all combined into one with enemies stacking. I can only imagine the clusterf*ck your screen is on a hi shock or auric maelstrom. I will gladly have my screen nice and clean while also obliterating the "cheaters" score.
IDK, that's not really cheating, I mean you can literally see the enemies with your own eyes. Adding an outline or a health bar doesn't really change much there other than telling you how close an enemy is to death.

Want to know a mod that's kind of cheating? Spidey Sense. It not only tells you when a special spawns, which is info you can get with your ears and eyes but it also tells you which direction it spawned in, which is something that you're not really supposed to know beyond the absolute faintest of sound queues.

You can't see all enemies because they're behind other enemies, for one example. You have to listen and be cautious.

It will be cheating if it show hp bars through walls and from dinstance, but since it dont do any of two it isnt really a cheat, more like people saying that try to hard boost ego this way.

Sounds like cope for someone who needs a cheating crutch to survive on higher difficulties

It allows you to see the position of enemies in dark/ low light areas with 100% accuracy. No need for a torch on your weapon. No need to spam tag/ vet blitz etc blindly.

It is a mod that allows for the circumvention of intended gameplay mechanics.... How large an impact it has in any given circumstance is of course open to debate. Some people will get more mileage out of it than others.

Not that I care if people want to use it. Personal choice is a thing. But it is, by definition, a cheat mod.

Mods which fall dangerously close to outright cheating are what is eventually going to cause the removal of any and all modding capability.

Health bar mod lets you see enemies in the dark. It tells you how close things are to dying letting you be a lot more efficient. Is that cheating? Well it makes the game quit a bit easier.

The health bar mod works great on Auric Damnation.

I mean people consider hardware and certain software cheating . More motion clarity? "cheating" . Reflex boost? "cheating". People will always find an excuse to get better. Easier to blame someone or something else. Even if both players are playing on the same exact hardware and software. Lan (so no lag). They'll blame something lol

I'll just stop playing if they disable some qol mods. How many more people can they afford to lose?

The easiest solution for that would be to not encourage the use of borderline cheat "mods", as well as their creation, so that the genuine quality of life mods can continue being used.

Yeah but by definition, any "quality of life" mod that makes the game more comfortable, aka "easier" can also be considered cheating.

100% anything that gives any "advantage" no matter how small of an advantage can be considered cheating. Even keyboards or mice that give lower input lag can be considered cheating at this point. at this point it is what it is.
