When are we getting a new class??
I can already think of one... that already has assets in the game... I really want a heavy gunner with a belt-fed backpack. Lets ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ go already!!!!!!

Let's go, Belt Fed Backpack Las Gun and Machine Gun, two assets already available and ready to be exploited for the foundation it already provides.

their timetable is some kind of itemization overhaul next. I hope their 'path of redemption' was code for them having some kind of actual plan for a couple updates more before they vamoose for the summer holidays again to frolic and galavant in the rolling Swedish hills.

but they did say 'new weapons' would mean 'new weapons' instead of more variants this time. so perhaps something cooler for Ogryn than the 'dummys poop scoop but actually a thunderhammer' this time. and hot shot las and similar stuff that is absent for no other reason than to drag out interest.

New Weapons deserve more classes too.

A different way to play than just a hack and slash lane game. I'd like a class that can move through the ducts as a infiltrator scout. No support from the rest of the team. Specializes in sabotage and hiding. Makes the game harder and more exciting, personally.

I would also like some belt fed type of heavy machine gun for Vet

I mean this as compassionately as I can, that will never happen. This is a hack and slash, and will not be anything else. Its what Fatshark does best, and its what they should stick to. I genuinely would not get your hopes up for anything outside of that.

As for the backpack gunner you are talking about, hopefully we get some kind of hotshot weaponry that is similar to that for Veteran. But I doubt they would make a new class that is also just a guardsmen-esque ranged class just to give him bigger weapons. More than likely the new class (if they ever add one) would be something along the lines of a Mechanicus priest, Hive Ganger, etc.

As for when that content might come, I wouldnt hold your breath, unfortunately. They didnt mention anything about a new class in their overview of this years upcoming content so next year at the earliest. Potentially even longer, or not at all. They have not specifically said they would be even adding a new class (though it would be a waste not to). Take care

2025 would be the earliest chance for a new class I think.

This year we got the Penance rework with a new enemy, and are getting a crafting rework, more new enemies, more missions and more weapons.

A possible PS5 launch might bring a new class though. But since there's the current Sony debacle with Helldivers 2 right now, staying away from Playstation might be the better move.

Yea I figured as much, I do hope they get it on the right track here soon. I would indeed love a new twist onto the hack-n-slash of the game, maybe even some PvPvE like Vermintide has going. There is a lot to look at and I am wondering how we can be creative with it to bundle it up and present it to Fatshark.

You got one last year, when they redid all of the talent points. It was just blended into the same 4 classes.

My opinion, we have not gotten any kind of new class; still waiting for it. Probably won't happen at all.

cog head or squat are my vote

Unfortunately they have flat said "no squats".
I've still got my old squat army, and their version of terminator suits (chubby little mecha-vikings) are still the best thing GW ever produced. So I feel the pain of that statement.

I’m still hoping for Ratling Snipers one day. :D

They'd probably sooner add a fourth talent tree to each of the existing classes before developing a new class, because otherwise, they'd probably need several voice actors for an entirely new class, ideally bring back all the others to have some custom conversations with the new ones, all that stuff. Would be a huge investment for what might not be much of a payoff, so I think extra talent trees are more likely than another class if they ever want to bring more build variety into the game.

We don't even know if classes (now branches) are still even planned.

And archetypes we don't even know of

What are you talking about
Archetypes are what you pick. Ogryn for example is an archetype with 3 classes. Gunlugger, Skullbreaker and Bodyguard.

We don't need any
More than that: there are too many classes atm and one of them should be removed - Ogryn

It's possible that they have already done the voice lines for future character interaction from the side of the current characters, and only need to have the other side of the banter from the new character. This isn't a very complicated process, it's just lines written down, spoken & recorded and then stored.

They have after all just recently added an NPC character that had her voice lines done in 2022 already.
