smoke screen
so how does this even work?
Im barely making progress because i dont get what i means by engulf enemies in smoke, i throw smoke enemies walk through no progress, why?

Do i seriously need to throw smokes at a group of enemies and the initial explosion is what counts not the lingering smoke?

I think you are correct. When the smoke initially explodes there's a barely visible reticle (4 small arrows around your crosshair) that tells you if any of the enemies got hit by the smoke cloud.

Smokes suck btw and should be replaced with something else.
it seems like a neat utility but I can't really figure out good ways to make use of it. Are there any smoke grenade stans out there with tips and nuances about it?
It could be buggy/iffy. I got mine by mostly having enemies walk into it yet some of my other ones like Sustained fire for Ogryn (kill 5000 enemies while maintaining 5 stacks of heavy hitter) or killing pox bursters without anybody on the team taking damage just don't go up.

Granted I am not some god tier player but I have never found smoke to do anything remotely useful or on the same level as the other grenades. You dont even get that many

If you throw a smoke inbetween yourself and the enemies, they stop shooting you or just shoot aimlessly towards the smoke cloud (stray bullets can still hit you, but you won't be laser targeted by Gunners and Reapers).

If you throw it ON TOP of the enemies, they unequip their ranged weapons and try to exit smoke. I'm not sure how long they stay in melee though.

Smoke is just useless, thats it.

Also if you drop it on yourself you can see out of it fine but enemies can't see you and will close until they can... which means melee. It also keeps dogs from leaping at you IIRC.

Huh, cool. Does that mean it can disable other tracking like mutant charges? I'll have to experiment with it more.

The penance requires the smoke grenade to go off and cover enemies. That's it.

Enemies walking into an existing smoke cloud don't count.

Pick the +1 grenade talent, regen every 60 seconds, and the regen % change on elite kill, and just start spamming them at groups.

You'll get it in a few rounds of High Intensity.

I'm pretty sure it does but I can't remember, it's been awhile since I've used it. Smoke is very good when the entire team knows how to use it (especially the Vet throwing it). You can't count on that in pugs, so it's mostly useless in practice, unfortunately.
