Ogryn on Auric is a miserable experience.
I don't know if its this games performance, or the class isn't optimized well for the difficulty. But it just feels sluggish, on top of squishy, unless I take Confident Strike, my toughness is just sapped instantly. Swinging a weapon feels like I'm swinging through molasses unless its a knife. I just don't -feel- big and powerful as the class and character conveys.

And it didn't always feel this way, I don't understand whats changed or was nerfed or whatever the ♥♥♥♥. But as the title states, Ogryn in Auric is a miserable experience that I hope the new update rectifies to give them SOMETHING to make them fun to play again.

They nerfed the heck out of the tanky Orgyn build as it was op.

Ironically, Orgyns Don't have the crutch of Shout, Icon, Bubble.

Careful, you'll have people who will set you alight on the discord, and reddit for saying Ogryn in auric is bad. As many people swear. That ogryn is: The strongest and most easiest class and the best-strongest in damage output.

Edited, looks like people are coming out of the woodwork to say it's "skill issue" and "you thing".

He feels pretty terrible due to his sluggish speed. I've been experimenting with stubber and ranged build. It's been working out so far.

My current preferred weapons are the Bully Club IIIb / Bull Butcher II Cleaver and Kickback as they feel relatively "light" compared to some of the others I've tried.

Since they nerfed Feel No Pain (I've seen some people saying it's also bugged right now where friendly fire takes away stacks), I've been playing around with the right side of the tree with Point Blank Barrage + Bullet Bravado (for toughness regen) + Hail of Fire = quick way to kill packs of Maulers, Scab Ragers, even Crushers if you have the right Blessings / Perks. Paired with Get Stuck In, every time I use my ability I gain 20% movement speed and then I also take Unstoppable Momentum for an additional 20% movement speed on ranged kill.

I take as much of the toughness nodes in the tree as humanly possible and have 2 x +21% Health and a +17 Toughness curio.

Sometimes I switch to Bull Rush (since it's handy for getting out of clumps of elites spawning on top of you), but for the most part, I like how fast I can delete packs of elites with PBB + Kickback. I've taken this on Auric and it felt pretty safe.

You mean some of the clowns that thinks Ogryn is the easiest, yet when Zealot are by far tankier, achieve a similar practical stagger/cleave efficacy (reaching what Ogryn can do on some level), & can dive any composition with almost no downside due to dodge/slide/sprint modifier reductions, stun/knockback immunity, almost immediate ult regen, and I dunno 15% toughness on a heavy attack kill (singular) with one of the highest crit chances in the game, ignore downs + get 25% max hp safety net. All while rolling the best defensive stat balance & dodge range + widest flexible arsenal + fun options. All while having a consistent +30% atk spd, +60% crit chance, 2.5% toughness regen near 3 enemies, +150% Impact, some backstab dmg, and knockoff pox hounds by yourself.

That's not getting into detail with the hold S key and LMB class + nade spam, and safety net glass cannon dps. They're all easy upon the baseline.

Ogryn has the primary issue of being easier to target by ranged mobs - which people tend to deal with slower/less priority than melee mobs and specials. Combine this with no *fast* precision weapon outside of grenade gauntlet (which has laughably bad ammo economy, worse than shotguns imo), you are pretty much stuck waiting for someone else to kill gunners for you half the time.

I think baseline that is his problem. In melee, Ogryn feels fine, strong, and his ranged build can melt anything except crushers (and even crushers with the right setup) easily but as more of an emergency button/boss deleter (i think of gunlugger ogryn like thammer zealot, specialized in that way). Old shieldgryn dealt with this by taunt pulling gunners, which still works to some extent, but full shield build feels pretty bad with FnP now (which was nerfed into the damn ground, rip)

Ps. I main zealot/ver and i had a blast playing my ogryn champion kicking asses in aurics (all penences done ofc).

I carry pubs with Ogryn in auric often, so sounds like skill issue TC.

I do think the FNP nerf was too far though, probably should buff it back up.

idk i could say skill issue but thats probably disingenuous, playing Ogryn is honestly a whole different game compared to the other 3 classes

you just need practice really since Ogryn has to play each map in a different way than the other 3 who all play similar enough your experience and muscle memory carry over, i main the class though so obviously my experience is different to the ones who dont

Ogryn can wreck just about anything in melee but the problem is actually getting into melee when the map is covered by range enemies that can melt his toughness bar within seconds on higher difficulty. Even with the slab and dash skill it takes a single gunner or sniper in a bad spot to down them not to mention the sheer amount of range attacks often drain their stamina incredibly fast even when blocking. Ogryn's natural high health is a trap. It is great for new players on lower difficulty because they can get away with more attacks but by the time you reach damnation it becomes less impactful. Their weapons also lack the range and accuracy to efficiently (not impossible, just more difficult) to take care of range enemies.

They need better defense against range or better ways to deal with range. Slab helps a lot but its also not fun being limited to always using shield. Even with 3 curios with gunner damage reduction it can be a miserable experience when the rest of the team would rather 1 v 1 a melee mob than deal with the 10 gunners shooting at you. Or just play Zealot.

Ogryn is ~80-90% heavy attacks and then some basic (dodge) movement(s) with a few ranged shots every minute so the class is quite monotonous despite being good.
