Input lag is really destroying this game for me....
Until I learned how this game handled inputs and the differences between client/server I almost rage bought a new keyboard.

Its getting old trying to switch weapons and nothing happens, this can cause you to die at the wrong moment.

Maybe I'm just old and remember when hitting a key actually did things without relying on some server half a country away....

Yeah, its less of an issue to me. I sometimes run into an area and it drops to literally 3 fps. And then walk 2 meters to a different area and its instantly 60 fps again. But ive also pressed a button to change and the game was like "nah". I feel like its obvious to everybody this game is BADLY optimized. Although i always think its my AMD card. I think Nvidea cards have less issues.

It's huge issue for me as a psyker. Try macro your keys to send 3-5 clicks when changing your weapons.
I had matches fail just because game doesn't listen and do what I click too.

I seriously recommend using dedicated keys instead of quickswap and then adding macros for those keys. I had the same reaction and didn't last more than a month back after release until making an AHK script for all that. Now every single equipment change & blitz use is macred to a loop that sends the same command 5-8x every 50ms to make sure it goes through. Even my fricking ult after the Oct 3:rd patch needed a macro so I could actually trust the game to fire it when I tell it to.

It won't fix the hit detection issues, or the game randomly ignoring block, pushes & push attacks, but it helps a lot to at least tone down the problem.

Apart from the lag and server issues eating inputs. Some weapons outright ignore inputs when they're in certain animations.
Game needs input buffering if it doesn't have it. Or polish it if it does.

Fun part is: it ruins the game for most of us.

They still don't care enough to fix it.

Use Q to switch weapons rather than the number keys, Q bypasses some of the animations while the number keys don't.

Isn't it "use 1 and 2" usually as q is more likely to lag out and double switch without notice?

Oooh, yeah it really grinds my gears, but fortunately isn't happening to me the majority of the time. Worst that's happened to me is a rare occasion where I release the block button but my guy is stuck in a blocking stance, so attacking just repeatedly shoves enemies.

Literally howling at my pc when it happens.

Wait til you realise dodge distance is inconsistent based on the floor/surface you are on or passing over!

EDIT

You know i might be missing info about this and it might actually be worse. It might vary due to input lag. Certainly I've found even when i dodge at the right timing now i sometimes still get hit. I have discovered there spots on the maps where you stop moving if you are walking backwards. Theres nothing blocking the way but you just stop or get stuck. Then you try again and it works.

So i don't whats going on. Its just the game is very buggy in a way that means you just punished for doing it right occasionally.

Just want to weigh in that this isn’t a universal problem. I have no input lag or weapon swap issues in 1800 hrs.

In V2 I did have that issue with Sienna staffs. But never in this game

To anyone having this issue- are you using frame gen? Quick swap key? Or mouse wheel?

I use the number keys and definitely dont have any input lag or weap swap problems.
I like clueless people giving macro advice on what is obviously server based ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that has been server based ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ since the game launched.

Protip: it'll be server based ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tomorrow too.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but from my understanding, what they are suggesting has no bearing on whether it's server or client-sided. They're trying to swap weapons, they press a key, but nothing happens. Macroing it to press the key multiple times within a couple of hundred MS, I could see working.

Although, I don't think that's the issue at all, I think it has more to do with the fact that they are doing other things, like shooting, hitting, blocking, pushing, etc. Which overrides the "swap to alternate weapon". That is, at least, how I perceive it when it happens to me.

cant play for anything worth while today.
even have updated drivers and changed worker threads a few times (which usually fixes it) but it still persists.
normally this goes away for me but today more than ever, it hasnt.
Auzi Jan 28, 2024 @ 8:04pm
something ain't right cuz I don't have any of these issues.

What region are you in? I'm west coast USA and have none of these issues. Never had a weap swap issue in DT in 1800+ hours. Dogs are no threat to me and never have been.

And yet some people claim they can't switch weapons and dogs are impossible to counter. Is it possible your ISP/region is to blame? Because it's not "the game." If it was "the game" we'd all have those problems, right?

None here. It's possible west coast USA has good enough connection (I'm on a physically connected 1gb fiber) and that other regions and/or playing or wireless is effecting the experiecne?
