Skaven Signs ?

Hi all,

playing Darktide and I see what appear to be Skaven signs painted on a wall in the "refinery" area (where you smash the bright green glass vats.
The sign was bright green an has two small horns at the top. Very Great Horned rate-que in style, but I thought Skaven were extinct in 40K or are they to return ?

skaven never existing in 40k. that saidm the horned rat's rune turns up in the chaos graffiti fairly often as an easter egg.

WH 40K and Fantasy aren't the same universe.

As others said, WH Fantasy and WH40K aren't in the same universe and Skavens don't exist in WH40K. At one point they were going to be connected, but that was retconned a loooong time ago.

The symbols reminiscent of the Horned rat are likely easter eggs, or a universal sign used in Chaos factions. Probably a mix of the two since it wouldn't be the first time a reference or nod showed up in either IP.

So tyranids basicly. Because genestealers are basicly the lamer version of them. There's no reason they can't have ripper swarms as dregs, hormogaunts etc as scabs, warriors as elites amongst other things.

Except for the no-compete with Saber Interactive, so no, not basically Tyranids. If you get anything it will be Purple Limo Boys and that's it

But Hrud got retconned when GW decided to divorce Warhammer Fantasy from 40k. Prior Warhammer Fantasy was a planet surrounded by warp storms and thus inaccessible, but set in the 40k universe.

They retconned the Hrud to look like this:

About the same time they removed Squats from the game (or rather had their homeworlds eaten by the Tyranids). Since we got back Squats just recently as League of Votann, there is hope we might actually see Skaven one day.

Play Space Marine 2 when that comes out if you want ‘nids other than the potential genestealers and their cultists

Except those aren't Skaven. Some theorize those are Stryxis, actually. There's several examples of rat-like beings in the 40K universe, but none are ever called Skaven, nor do any even act like them.

It may change in the future but as of right now there are no canon Skaven in WH40K.

Stryxis are described as more dog like than rodent, Also X-10198.RK does have official artwork as they appear in the xeno bestiary.

If it's the Skaven triangle with 2 horns on top it's just the rune for Weapon of Chaos
