i'm stunned darktide didn't get nominated for best soundtrack

like how? i love hi fi rush and the sound design in that game is amazing but it's not a soundtrack i would like go around and listen to. i only remember one song from that game cuz it was so gimmicky, like a mozart remix or smt. amazing song for that fight obviously, as all of them are, but the soundtrack doesn't stand on it's own compared to darktide. which is great on it's own and in game

does hi fi rush have the best audio? yes. best soundtrack??? no. meanwhile everyone i know have darktide songs they can remember by name and listen to on their free time, when the OST dropped it made waves.

i don't know about the other games cuz i haven't played them. looked up like one tactica song and it was really mid (i am a persona fanboy fyi) but who knows maybe the OST slaps. chants of sennaar seemed mid too but again i can't say. however the pizza tower OST seems to have really deserved the nomination.

there really wasn't that much competition for darktide either cuz out of all the well known game soundtracks for 2023 many weren't even on steam. there were no doubt amazing indie games released 2023 banger osts but not ones that are well known. yet there's a lot of people who love and listen to the darktide ost without even having played it.

i really don't get how this happened

yeah and I don't see this game beating Lethal Company for the Better with Friends award simply because it has way more players. Sucks

Games could be nominated only in one other category besides Game of the Year. Darktide got more votes for the "Better with Friends" category so that's where it will be.

The Awards are a popularity/meme contest, nothing more.

I mean, the man did a good job on the OST for Darktide but there are many games that are simply just better for banger OST's.

oh absolutely especially on the indie scene. however compared to some of the other competitors who were nominated for the category this year... i'm just surprised is all. the OST is a pretty defining part of the game and a big part of what it's known for

Well, I'm sure I choose darktide for this category. My conscience is clean and to me is one of the best, if not the best ost. Since Vermintide I admire the vibe the OST brings to the player, the variety of instruments. Its just awesome.

Sorry, but I strongly disagree with you. A soundtrack being part of the gameplay shouldn't be taken into consideration when you are judging only the ost by itself. If you do that you will find only a mediocre rock soundtrack in Hifi rush. Nothing original or great about it. Its just a common rock ost.

It's a games award, of course it's about the actual music in the game and that is very much taken into consideration xD

Annnnd LC is a genuinely better game to play with friends. If we go by all the groups of friends playing that game vs all the groups of friends playing darktide.

Id suppose if darktide was really that much better with friends, people who play darktide would be able to convince their friends to play this game with them. Afterall...if you cant convince your friends to play a game with you...its probably a ♥♥♥♥♥ game.

The Steam Awards are a joke and have been since Valve started them a few years ago. Don't take them seriously. It mostly comes down to whatever's popular with youtubers when the voting starts... and memes, lots and lots of people making meme votes.

I mean you wouldn't go to the Steam Forums to have a serious conversation or get help for anything that really matters, so why should the awards be any different.
