So let's talk about Guard Units
• Death Korps of Krieg = WWI Germans
• Armageddon Steel Legion = <--- they kinda look like WWII Muricans to me, please correct me cause I'm not sure
• Catachan Jungle Fighters = would eat Night Lords for breakfast and spit em out
• Mordian Iron Guard = smartly dressed yet with an equal tenacity
• Tanith 1st and Only = sneaky boys
• Vostroyan Firstborn = Napoleonic Era Ruskies
• Tallarn Desert Raiders = desert tank boys
• Praetorian Guard = a boa o woa
• Attillan = "Jaghatai is that you? You're so small" - Corvus Corax

Seeing that some Guard units take inspiration from certain cultures, do any guards take inspiration from the Americans? I mean beside the Steel Legion.

Also what are Valhallan supposed to be, Finns during the Winter/Continuation War?

The Death Korps of Krieg are actually modelled stylistically off the French troops of WW1, common misconception though.

They are based on the WW2 era Soviet Red Army in winter gear.

Catachan Jungle Fighters are based on the US troops of the Vietnam war.

They're an mix of different Factions from WW1, including german.

Their Coat and Pants are similar to French Uniforms, where as their Helmets are a mix of french and german ones.
Their Gas Mask is inspired by the British SBR Gas mask and the bayonet that they use is based on the American M1917.

Most obvious german part is of course the name.

I'll see if I can find it again, but there's some very good breakdowns on YT flagging that they are far more influenced by French troops than any other. The helmet is absolutely French style, the Germans adopted some of its design features only after WW1. The French forces used a lot of allied gear for obvious reasons.

Steel Legion is most likely inspired by the WW2 german Kradschütze summer uniform:

Their Uniform seems to be the Cloak. From various book art it seems T-shirt, Cargopants, maybe some Knee pads and the Cloak. On occassion they might wear the Standard Imperial Breast Plate (there is a picture of Try-again-Bragg wearing one)

So exchange the Gold Helmet for the Grenadier pelt helmet.. hey presto.. Vostroyan Firstborn.

You mean aside from the bog standard Cadian?

Cadian:

US Vietnam Uniform:

Cadians pretty much present the "standard" these days... and are pretty clearly modeled after the US troops around the Vietnam war. Just with some added body armor.

Off top of my head
Brontian Longknives - Just your average day in London.
Elysian Drop Troops and Harakoni Warhawks - Chairborn
Finreht Highlanders - Average Scotsman
Kaledon Hunters - Gauls/Celts
Kanak Skull Takers - Native Americans
Maccabian Janissaries - Persians
Scintillan Fusiliers - Bourbon French

There are honestly countless Imperial Guard Regiments often nothing more than a scribble from Third Edition that still exist. Dig far enough and you'll find sterotypes for everywhere. Think there are even Roundheads and Cavaliers, some based on ANZACs and even a few based off Alpine Mountaineers from WW1.
