I struggle to understand the rippers place in this game?
its an auto shotgun but

The kickback is better
The kickback penertrates and clears groups
The kick back knocks down everything
The kick backs reload appears faster
Theres no set up time to make it effective
Its pretty accurate
The ammo efficiency is really good.

Whats the ripper got?
Awful aim from the hip accuracy
Awful reload
Awful damage (comparitively)
for it to be good you have to set it up (flip out and brace)

I love the idea of the ripper but it feels like a handicap after using the kickback for so long

Id love it to get some love and attention, thats should be the best all rounder out of his weapons

Well, the tradoff to kickback is less damage higher fire rate. You dont have to like every weapon but they both are viable, for me at least. Just a flavour thing i guess.

First off, ripper MKs are really different; you will have different experiences playing with MK2 or MK5. All ripper guns have a unique and strong blessing: can opener (80% Brittleness on target ain't joke) , combo of alt attack + regular shot is really strong with it. Also, you have a room-clearing option with aim mode. The last one, Kikback, was buffed a lot for a series of patches, maybe even overbusffed.

Rippers special attack (bayonet strike) counts as melee heavy attack btw
Also rippers can have cool 'melee' blessings.

But overall I do agree - there is not much sense in the Rippers atm

MK5 deals more damage long term due to no relead need, melts ragers, can opener has better cara damage for all rippers.
MK6 has better shooter deal as in braced mode it's a headshot machine up to 40m.
MK2 doesn't require the recoil control of mk5 and is a bit more accurate.

Ripper is better sustained damage. You'll never be able to mow down as much stuff as fast with the kickback.

Also the Ripper is better against carapace.

Ripper is primarily more mobile and functions better as a melee weapon.

So far we have 3 Ripper guns
the Mk II, Mk V and Mk V so which one do we talk about?

I like it...
As said by others the blessing: can opener, combo of alt attack + regular shot is just pure :spacemarineskull:

Btw is there not what 2 different types of reloads animation with the Ripper guns "flip out and brace" and without?

Yes, braced reload is different and goes right back to holding the handle rather than going back to neutral and re-grabbing it.

Also, you can cancel your volleys to do just 1 shot with the running key and kinda snipe.

But why would i be using the bayonet attack at close range as an ogryn?

That would be foolish and a loss in damage and suitability considering i can 3 shot the crushers etc and tank their hits with my heavies.

If the ripper was a quick drawing, or better in some way

Take the Heavy stubbers

When you hold left click the cursor isnt jumping up half the screen and so you can make adjustments. If the ripper was like that in some way it would be far better,

You do that with the ripper the screen flips up so far to the point theyre useless

Cant remember which one but the one with the stop inbetween firing is good but as it stands the ripper is a worse heavy stubber, a worse kickback,

I hate the grenade gauntlet and how it feels,
i hate the rumbler and how it feels

The ripper is easily my favourite weapon (on paper) but compared to the kickback... theres no competition which guts me as i love it

Also the rippergun destroys the karnak twin's shields really really fast. And it's the only situation I'd use it TBH.
Xarko 20 DIC 2023 a las 5:02 a. m.
Rippergun is a better weapon if you plan to use it as your "main" weapon. Kickback is a better weapon if you are mostly meleeing and switch to ranged just to delete a special or smth.

I imagine with the Gun lugger tree and the (70% reload speed) it would be very good
