not all zealots i seen alot of vetrans or even PSYKERS with knifes trying to run a head of there team so its not just zealots
Disregarding the exploders here, since they're just bad, but defending the "metasheep" builds, the Psyker really is kind of forced right now.
Void Staff is decent but requires so much more work now to get the same damage as a Veteran or even a Zealot which can one or two tap a Crusher while you're still throwing orbs. Flamethrower staff is woefully underpowered. Trauma staff is LOL. Surge staff is good because of a bug and without a buff after the bug is fixed most will return to void because while not as good as it used to be, it's better than nothing.
With every other part of a Psyker build you're super constricted. Smite is a feather duster that tickles, brain burst is a joke because of how slow it is (by the time you get it off revolver or las rifle go BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT) and Assail is weaker but still clears waves (clears waves the way Smite should).
Shriek is the LOL cow of the selection, venting helps nobody by bad Psykers who suck a peril management and the shield is arguably one of the best additions to Psyker overall for the Psyker and the team.
So where does that leave the Psyker? 2 staff options (possibly 1 option if the bug is fixed with no other buffs), Assail and Shield. That's it. It's OP and obnoxious right now with the bug, but Psyker mains really have no wiggle room right now versus something like say the Veteran where you can make almost everything work with an exhaustive arsenal of viable weapons.
*Edit: Fixed a typo.
Obviously that's just me - I suppose it helps that I've played Psyker since release. I will say that I've never found a good use for Trauma though.
for what its worth i have not changed my build at all. I still am rocking BB and all the fire. I call it my Burny Sanders build.
I'm at the same point. I hardly play my vet anymore because its just too powerful. Sometimes I'll bring it into the topkek auric blitz maelstrom (83k one). I haven't touched my psyker since September because they're just ridiculous.
