Can't get mods to work
I tried installing Modloader and the framework with some basic QOL stuff like darkcache, the book finder mod and and i think scoreboard and after installing / enabling the mods and adding the mods in the .ini file i launched the .bat file that said darktide succesfull for mod loading.

When starting the game in steam though it crashes almost immediately, i've tried disabling the mods one by one and running the .bat file twice again to re-enable but the game crashes on startup.

What am i doing wrong?

1st off.

Really? Bookfinder Mod? Just find them yourself. Shouldn't be crutching on something that is just borderline cheating.

2nd off.

What's your modding structure like? You do have a separate mods folder right? Wrote everything in the mods_load_order.txt file right? Can you give an example of what that looks like? (I'd copy paste (everything) inside the text file)

And is the batch file, [toggle_darktide_mods.bat] inside of the main Darktide folder, but not inside mods?

yes seperate mod folder (not darkloader), yes everything written correctly in the load order file, yes the .bat file is in the main Darktide folder, not in mods.

I can follow installation instructions.

Is it vortex compatible? Maybe i should try that

And the bookfinder is just an audio queu if you are NEAR them. It's not a giant arrow pointing to where the books/ scriptures are according to mod info.

Maybe you should follow installation instructions as you claim.

And anyway, I asked for what you have in the text file. You might've wrote something wrong.

It's still borderline cheating. You remove the extra searching around to the one area where that 'audio queue' comes up.

What's with the snarky remarks, i asked a question, it's not like i remember everything i tried and read yesterday.

How about no.

I'll figure it out myself

Because I don't have to like you, especially if you're using the Book Finder mod. That's just my petty dislikeness. Doesn't mean I can't be helpful.

You came onto the forums for help, I tried to offer things you might've overlooked, and you've turned around to thinking Vortex is gonna fix yours issues.

I wouldn't be surprised if you somehow screwed up the installation instructions with these kind of thought processes.
If it'd help at all in the slightest, this is what my mod_load_order.txt file has:

-- ################################################################
-- Enter user mod names below, separated by line.
-- Order in the list determines the order in which mods are loaded.
-- Do not rename a mod's folders.
-- You do not need to include 'base' or 'dmf' mod folders.
-- ################################################################
animation_events
scoreboard
Walk
InventoryStats
NumericUI
crosshair_hud
custom_hud
true_level
ForTheEmperor
ChatBlock

If anything looks off if you have any of those mods, that's the problem. If not, something you're using might not be up to date, or you installed them wrong.

Just replying since the other person is being petty and rude for no reason. There's a Vortex plugin you can use for Darktide, all you have to do is grab the plugin, install the mods using Vortex, then go to the mods folder and run the bat there that will automatically add any mods you installed to the text file. Install the Darktide framework and loader manually.

EDIT:

Here's the link to the Darktide extension for Vortex:
https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/684

Here's a link to a mod that will add a bat you can run to automatically include newly installed mods to the mod_load_order.txt file - install it with Vortex:
https://www.nexusmods.com/warhammer40kdarktide/mods/139

Once you install the above, the bat will be located in this directory:
Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer 40,000 DARKTIDE\mods - it's named SL_EN_mod_load_order_file_maker.bat

Once you run it it should automatically open the mod_load_order text file and you should see your mods listed there.

If you have more questions I don't mind helping. Hate people like the first guy that replied, pretending to be helpful and taking the opportunity to be rude just because.

Chat block is cheating.

It was in the previous game, and literally all it does is let you block as you shift+tab to a friend, do something in the escape menu, or alt+tab to respond to something else.

If you think otherwise, feel free to build a proper argument

Fatshark themselves added Chat Block into Vermintide 2 after it was originally a mod that operates the same way. They wouldn't even consider it cheating.

it would be if it actually lead u to it by playing hot or cold with you, just being a notification for the audio cue isnt raelly cheating

It was in the previous game,

no? it was a mod also yes(and an approved one iirc?), then got added in the official game, but it was never cheating

I don't think either of you knows what the mod does.

The game already has a sound cue for when you are near a book. What book finder does as a mod is to write in the chat if the sound cue is being played. It's essentially just a mod for hearing impaired people that provides no advantage. It's helpful if you're deaf and virtually useless for anyone else.

Sound that is usually dampened by fighting, voicelines, music.

I mean, I've never found a book through hearing, but from the point of view of someone using every advantage they can to min-max the game. An indicator (text) that tells you exactly that something is nearby, is cheating. Sure, it'd be useful for someone hearing impaired or similarly something else relating to disability...

...But it's the same as those moments where you don't hear a trapper, when you don't see a Dog or Mutant. You *missed* something, because you didn't notice it.

If text popped up that said *Mutant noises* or *Poxhound Barking* Sniper Flash* showed, and you could use it as an additional way to notice something, it simply is that, cheating.

It'd be on the minor-end, like knowing if a Book is nearby, but it is still exploiting something that is based on the user noticing in the first place. Text is a lot easier to notice over a conglomeration of sounds playing at once.

(EDIT)

Btw thank you whomstever for the Clown award on my first comment, you sure got me. Ouchie, I am hurtie.

kinda telling on yourself here

most times i find the book are either from the sound cue itself or their glow(for grimoires), the mod rarely plays a factor in actually finding it

funny thing to say considered the spiritual predecessor to the tide games, l4d, did in fact have the option to include text warnings

and imo FS should add that option for their games, if not for accesibility's sake then for the sake of people who like playing with music real loud or while listening to other things as they play(shows, other music, podcasts, whatever)
