Is Psyker's Smite supposed to do barely any damage?
It says it can be used to deal high single-target damage with right click but that doesn't happen, it seems to do the exact same thing as left click except it just charges for a bit first. Is it just supposed to be an AOE stunner instead of an AOE damager?

I believe so. It's a crowd control skill. You control the crowd and others do the damage. The right charge attack is done by holding right, then hold left. And you have to keep holding both for AoE spread. That's the only thing I use. LMB attack seems pointless and bad but haven't tested it a lot.

Yes. It's a CC ability with a pushback (if you cancel it before Max-Peril) that has a really large chain, making it a vastly superior version of what the Surge Staff used to be (when it comes to crowd control).

If you pair it with Venting Shriek + Creeping Flames passive for it, you actually double as a Crowd Clearer with the Soulburn Stacks when your Peril reaches Max (as Soulburn now stacks based on Peril and no longer Warp Stacks (which no longer increase Soulburn damage)). You also can't accidentally down yourself with Perils of the Warp using Smite, which is a big advantage that it has over the other options.

Let's not mention Empowered Psionics because that's confirmed to be a bug, you're not meant to get infinite peril/no peril buildup.

Yeah pretty much. It's a a CC tool, not really meant to do tons of damage. That being said, it can get busted, and certain builds make trash mobs bursting semi-frequent, which is always fun.

From my experience its supposed to be a powerful CC tool to lock down enemies in place for your team to deal with them. I think in its current form you're not even supposed to channel it long enough for enemies to explode. You can essentially tap it to knock down waves of trash and only need to channel it longer to stun something like charging mutants or bulwarks/maulers. Its tiny damage is there to kill off anything with 1% HP remaining, not to melt it down over time.
Thanks for telling me it's meant to be CC stun, but why does it's description mention a powerful single-target attack when it just doesn't actually have one?

Maybe it was supposed to call down lightning at some point but it got scrapped? Game has some problems with localization, so it wouldn't be too surprising.

Maybe they just copied a description from the Surge Staff, which DOES have high damage attack on right click.

Played Aurelic Damnation Maelstrom last night. As Psyker with Dome Shield and Smite. Made a huge difference with the CC and Cover Suppport. Its Awesome if your Team plays well with it. You CC oncoming hordes of specials while your Team kills them.
