Are chainaxes worth using now a days?
I heard in the past the chainsaw and chain weapons in general were less worth while vs the knives and swords and such you could get.

idk about chain axe but chain sword w/
+25% to Flak
+5% Melee Crit (or +25% Infested)
T4 Shredder or T4 Rampage or T4 Devastating Strike
T3 or T4 Blood Letter

is amazing.

With damage, penetration and shred stat lines above 75%
-special action kills everything in one blow except crushers take two
-pox walkers die in one swing
-groaners die in one swing
-flak armored trash dies in two w/rampage active. 3 if inactive.

oh and it one taps dogs to the head with a heavy swing.

I've been using it and think it's pretty good, and the chain weapons as a whole were buffed in the new patch. The biggest issue is it still suffers a bit when taking on hordes. Not that it's bad, I just often find myself on my toes more while using it because it clings to enemies on light attacks still (just not as bad as before).

It melts through armored pretty well though.

Chain Axe is fine as long as you don't mind using push and heavy swings 90% of the time.

It deletes bosses and monsters, as it should.

chain axes do damage
but have no mobility
tis fine for regulars but sucks hard for MSs and auric STGs
Chain axe has stronger stagger when it revs, and can use thrust/slaughterer. Chain sword can be a bit dicey with crushers and maulers around even when it gets stuck.

I run chainsword with T4 Bloodletter and Shred with 25% flak and 25% maniac. I can 1 shot everything but Bulwarks, Crushers and Reapers on Damnation with 1 powered light attack.

The Bulwarks and Reapers needs 1 heavy on the head, and +1-2 swings to finish them off quicker than they bleed to death. Crushers needs 3 powered heavy hits. It's monsterously good right now.

Chain axes are in a weird spot. Don't have a good move set. Great damage but the other options are better for damage and don't have the chain axe weaknesses making the chain axes seem more like a rule of cool weapon. Doesn't help that the eviscerator can also be built to be as high damage as the chain axe.

Yeah makes sense, I was just wondering as I heard it used to be super bad, Most chain weapons were out classed by knives and swords from what I remember in the past. Sounds like chainweapons feel good to use now a days.

They are better but not as good as people make it out to be. And I play eviscerator exclusively. I played the eviscerator when it used to be "not fixed" and was able to cleave through multiple specialists on powered rev. Was super fun. Now it just over kills single targets much like the chain axe.

I'm mainly playing with the Heavy Chainsword. Tried the Chaxe yesterday. Transcended 375, with them good rolls and +25%'s. Didn't like it. It teleports my camera around/into the floor, huge disadvantage as far as I'm concerned. Cleaving with it feels awkward and slow, too. Its great against priority targets with its light attacks, but I wasn't too impressed. Skill issue, I guess.

Well they buffed the light attacks a lot but they still aren't that great. They're more for the thrill of how awesomely put together the visuals and sounds of ripsawing heretic face are. Chainsword can't have that effect without the special, which is actually a blessing for it.
