Frag or Krak?
To any veterans of the Imperium guard that sees this, which grenade do you prefer? Do you prefer the classic frag for large crowds of heresy or the new krak for those pesky armoured heretics?

Feel free to share your thoughts.

depends on what your gun is.
if im running a bolter i would pick frag for crowd clearing
for my vraks mkVII i would pick krak for crusher/bulwarks

basically you just pick the opposite of what your gun can do. unless you want krak grenades for boss killing. the extra damage talent with the krak's high damage can do pretty good damage on bosses
Krak is the only one that lets you bring team grenade regen, which is absurd with fire/stun/grenade box/big grenade on the team.

you dont need to pick krak to pick demolition team
you can just put 2 points into the middle branch to grab demolition and then put points into the other 2 paths for smoke/frag if you want to

you know you can dip into team regen with any of them right?
So, here's the thing. I like them both, right? Even smoke has some niches, but-

Frags are great because I love the crowd control / clear / stun. Comes in great when you need breathing room in melee and you're overwhelmed, if you just wanna do some damage in an area, or buy time for pals. The free, if somewhat reduced bleed, is now just a bonus too. SO that's nice.

Krak? I ADORE the kraks. I think they are *hilarious.*
Oh no, a Crusher. An enemy I can't kill with my lasgun and have to spend awhile sawwing with a Chainsword. Not a huge issue, I can deal with that in melee. But what if...
I could just delete all the problems to my build that are armoured? I love chucking a Krak into a crowd of maulers and taking out a chunk of em. Or deleting shields. Or Crushers. Or doing a nice chunk of damage to a boss while staggering it. I wouldn't wanna be the poor bastard who realised the high pitched trilling was coming from him.

And since Regen (both team and self) is so easy to get now? Heh. Heheheh.

I'm running and gunning with krak recon laser. Sprinting and sliding into melee. Long distance bombing reapers. Bursting bosses. Pretty good

I loved frag grenades but it's been too long since we've really been able to use recon lasers

Depends on what your weapons are. Did you take a bolter/plasma? You can probably take frags for CC. Decided on anything else/non anti-armor combos? Kraks work great. A great bonus to Kraks is that you don't even need to be all that accurate with the toss. As long as it passes near something armored, it's magnetic and will move to latch itself onto the target.

I personally love the Kraks since they can 1 shot crushers and bulwarks with ease and they just sound and look great as well. That, and I went for a more melee focused build as well.

If you're being "one of those people" with the scoreboard mod and want to feel like you're better than you are at the end of a round, bring the frag grenades and have fun with hordes.

If you want to actually help your team when something big and bad comes out, bring Krak since it will delete most of everything big you'll come across.

Throw in some the grenade respawn and +1 grenade skills and your group will never have to worry about shield or carapace ogryn ever again.

I should have rephrased, it's the only loadout I've liked with veteran so far since there's no points left over because his tree is kinda meeh with too many mandatory taxes to pay to come somewhere close to a decent kit. Its from having to run ammo regen to have anything at all good to bring to the table...
