I agree, wish they had taken the Vermintide rout in some aspects.
They can be easily be avoided by not going near them and not shooting them it's very obvious.
I think the only thing that needs to be changed is tell people in the tutorial not to mess with them and clean up the place where they can spawn cause it sucks having one just spawn in the middle of a corridor you have to take. Yeah they can be killed if you have a tank but why bother it's not worth it at all it just eats ressources.
If you are on lower difficulties and someone triggers it just leave, you don't have enough dps to kill it. It will kill 1-2 of your team which you can pick up around the next corner and they will have learned a lesson. Much better than trying to kill it and waste even more hp and ammo.

Otherwise it's perfectly clear. Don't walk into them. Don't shoot them. Simple as.
