Let's talk mutant
The idea of the mutant is not new. Remember Charger from Left4Dead 2. But there is a reason I came to hate Mutants as much as dogs. Mutants have tons of hp. They are no joke during hordes, especially if it is already hard to dodge. Because of his hp he can't be immediately dealt with unlike other Specialists, which makes him kind of an irregular. Furthermove, he is fast as ♥♥♥♥. While the Charger in Left4Dead charged at you in a straight line without the ability to maneuver, the mutant can simply redirect its course. And this is one of the major problems. I have seen mutants do 90° changes to catch you, even an on the spot 180° twist. He is resistant to all stagger, so you either kill him or dodge him- if you can.
I would like to hear your thoughts on your most hated special and why it is the dog or the mutant

Dog 100%. Just before they released cross-platform play they had just fixed dogs teleporting on you due to rubber-banding, for the most part. Dogs became reliable to dodge for like a few weeks. Now the dogs are broken again (for me), and dodging is about luck.
Mutants don't give me trouble and their hp isn't too high IMO.

Well it needs the high HP to make up for not doing all that much damage when it grabs someone and, for whatever reason, just harmlessly tosses people if they're too close to a wall/object.
I'd say dogs win the prize for most annoying enemy for me, trappers come in close second.

Dogs are a pita. Un-dodgeable due to either their hitbox or server lag. I almost never have issues dodging a mutant, unless it's around a corner and I'm distracted.

I've killed mutants with my charged force sword in 1 or 2 swings.
Dogs are LITERALLY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken, it's not even a contest.

The only time a mutant is an actual threat is during maelstrom V when other specials screen their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Never try to dodge a dog, it never works due to Failshark budget servers. The only way to somewhat reliably stop a dog pounce is to push them mid air.

With a Zealot you can make an axe that can kill a mutant in one to two hits. As long as you have someone that is a specialist mutant killer on the team you should be ok.

The dogs seem off. They seem to have an aoe stagger that I'm not too sure they need. The dodging of their pounce? I guess a lot depends on the server. I used to be able to dodge and push them easy enough, right now it seem less consistent which of course leads to frustration, especially in the higher difficulties.

Mutants are 100% worse than dogs. A dog can be killed in 2 good hits with a melee weapon, a mutant takes 4+ and cannot be staggered. In high tensity situations with enemies everywhere mutants are the biggest issue by far, if two mutants are left up while a huge horde and boss is running around, mutants become undodgeable while being extremely tanky. Dogs can be negated easily by sitting on a corner, behind cover, or spam blocking most times - not to say I don't have issues with dogs, its just not as prevalent as mutants. Dogs are just broken in general, mutants are just OP in general.

I really like mutants actually.

When within X meters they lock on to you and keep running in a straight line, so a simple dodge is enough to evade them as long as you stay in their "LoS" so to speak. If you dodge behind corners, they will instead keep running the shortest route to you until they have that straight line. So if you hide behind a corner, they'll run around it and by the time they're locked on you probably won't have time to dodge anymore. That's something you can learn and prepare for. Every single time a mutie hits you, is because you played wrong.

Mutants to me represent the one single perfect special in this entire game. They do exactly what they are supposed to do, and pretty much never bug, glitch, cheat, or anything else. Even the sound bug & instant spawn bugs that basically involve every single other special in the game, does not affect mutants (or at least it's super rare). Their role is simply pressure. Alone, a mutant or 2 are useless. Yeah they take a few seconds to kill depending on your weapons, but besides that they are no threat. But the more of everything else is going on, the more serious the threat of mutants gets. Dying to 3+ mutants during a massive mixed horde in T5 HISTG when you're the last 1-2 people alive can feel overwhelming but it's still a fair way to go.

Meanwhile with other specials you frequently get stuff like bombers denying critical zones indefinitely while staying out of sight, and the moment you kill one another 2 take its place. Trappers and dogs spawn with no sound or warning and the first time you even know they're there is when you're already down. Both of them but especially dogs still ignore stagger whenever they feel like it and just disable you through it instead (it's way better now than before, but still not fixed). Snipers can shoot instantly with no warning, so you're instant killed before even knowing one had spawned. Bursters can still spawn and explode instantly virtually on top of you, or literally on top of you in case you're standing next to a spawn door. Etc etc.

As annoying as muties can be, they are fair. I don't even remember the last time I died to a mutie without it being my own fault, or because I didn't have what it takes. Meanwhile with other specials save gunners, that happens at least on a weekly basis. Sometimes several times a day or even in a single game.

I can dodge a mutant, and a trapper. I can never dodge a dog. I hate all of them, but I hate the dog by far the most.

True. Sometimes a mid air swing will do it, but a mid leap push can be your best bet.

I don’t really mind them and sometimes they can take you out of a situation where would have been much worse where you can’t get out on your own without his help.. So cheers to you Mutants

The Mutant's only issue is when he throws you through walls.

They are more durable than alot of other maniacs but they aren't insanely hard to kill.

Please note: I can one shot them with my Psycher's sword although it takes decent peril and warp charges. (and it doesn't have 25% maniac damage, it is running Unyielding)

I can one-shot them with the Slug shotgun on my Vet with Ult up and a headshot.

Orgyn's can one shot them with a nade.

Pretty much every class can spec/build to one shot them but it may not be the best idea.

People waste lots of ammo on mutants and dogs, which take 3X melee damage. When there's a ton of high HP enemies around you can safely leave muties til last, you just need to avoid like 2 dodges tops.

Dogs are still jank magnets that control how you play and move around, and still feel janky. I'm hoping they're still working on them.
