They can absolutely be blenders, it's true. I'm still prone to losing a lot of hp to them if I mess up, but distance and knowing what in your kit can stun or stagger them will help a lot.
You backpedal. Use your ranged weapon. Have your teammate help kill them. Have a weapon that can guarantee a stagger, or Catachan Sword parry.
They're meant to overwhelm you with attacks, as you (quite literally) cannot dodge those multi-swings. You just have to block until they slow down to a single-attack.
Specific answers come with the class you play.
They are specifically designed as a skill check for melee and team work. If you can't handle them solo, then simply don't. Tag and let your team help you.
On Psyker, Dueling Sword heavy thrust headshots kill them fast, or Psykinetic's Wrath to stagger for space.
On Veteran, if they're attacking you in melee, somebody saves you or you eat ♥♥♥♥. Don't get in that position.
On Zealot, space your dodges and keep swinging. Braced Autogun with T4 Maniac perk is also a fantastic sidearm for this purpose and because of this issue.
9/10 you shoot the bastards, only melee them if you have no other choice but by then the game is already half way to hell at that point. Shoot them from the outside, or use some kind of grenade to stumble them if you wanna engage in melee. You are not supposed to melee them at all. Maybe you can get away with using a revved up chainsaw weapon against ONE at a time but when you have 15 bearing down on you in Auric missions, you shoot to kill from the outset. The God Emperor protects.
The main thing usually is to get distance to buy the time to react.
There is no single best answer to this. Maybe OP should narrow down a little.
Ogryn with Shield also stunlock them.
Vet...well you better kill them at range but if all else fail, you can have good success with a decent power sword with power cycler...without it you are better off with devil claw and spam parry lol.
Psyker can spam either void or fire staff to cc and kill, smite also help lock them down, if you like live dangerously you can try dueling sword.
