If you're not confident doing damnation then some cheese build that "makes it easier" isn't the solution.

Pretty much any veteran build is viable for damnation, so it would be better to decide which weapons or abilities you enjoy using and then create a build around them.

Plasma gun works well with a middle column "team anchor" style build.

Hellbore or recon lasgun work well with the left hand ranged build.

if you don't want to think too much, go left tree, grab the frag nade and the ammo regen ability then go middle tree straight to the bottom, don't forget to take demo team and the passive nade regen. do not take the revive allies on ability use (not worth it, you want to spam your ability to prevent allies going down in the first place, not wait for them to eat the floor to use it at the cost of a longer cooldown) but do take the overshield one

grab a plasma gun and the cqc weapon of your choice. tadaaah now you'll often be top damage+elite/specialist,
the plasma gun (with maniac+flak) will one tap nearly every specialist and elite on a headshot, giving your ability a very short cooldown in the process.

the frag/shout spam will stagger everything and keep the team safe (also bleed nades will often give you a whole kill feed in auric), overshield save allies from sniper shots/buster explosions on top of that

it's the kit i run in auric damnation but swapped it lately cuz trivialising the difficulty and make allies annoyed with how fast you delete threats (if you know how to aim)

just adding this but the infantry autoguns are extremely solid on a sharpshooter build. mk1 have excellent ammo efficiency and will down most stuff pretty fast if aiming for the head while the colomnus is pretty much the new autopistol now (on top of being able to snipe reasonnably well when your ability is up)

Any build is possible, depending on how you want to play it.

For me i use a combination of ranged with heavy focus on grenade regan and improv.

extra damage krak, nade regen, extra nade etc.

+ the "regular" gun related perks mostly from the left tree

also i use the middle voice of command with the additional duty and honour in case there isn't a zaelot on your team so you have increased survivability when ragers start swarming you on damnation and higher.

for me it works fine.

i use either stub revolver, the vrak mk7 headshot or the heavy lasgun pistol with crit to wipe anything unarourmed/flak/maniacs and i use my upgraded kraks to wipe the floor with carapaced armour and monster spawns.

some perks are better then others but you can make most builds work

Everything is good for damnation. If you are focus on killing Ogryns / monstruosities take plasma guns and grenade Krak. If you are focus on killing swarm + specialist + assist team, the best is infiltrate. The last one is my favorite, you can revive a full team even on Auric Maeltrom damnation.
You need in your team a psyker smite and a zealot with hammer
