Best melee weapon for orgryn?

I would like something that does a lot of damage, such as the axe for the veteran.

The MK1 and MK2 Clubs with Bleed are guaranteed to do the most damage out of any other Ogryn weapon. Haven't checked the Shovel, but I just enjoy the Clubs the best for their consistency and ease.

Like the player above said, MK1 and MK2 clubs are your best choice for damage dealing similar to axes, because they have high base damage and high armor pen vs. Carapace etc.

As far as it being the "Best" weapon? That really depends on your definition of the term. The best weapon for 1 build isn't necessarily the same for another.

The MK IV cleaver does a ton of damage to single targets and can shred hordes too if you get the combo down (Push attack, then alternate heavies and lights)

Shield and Maul does pretty vicious damage with strong attack spam as well.

That being said, you need bleed on all of these to really do good damage. Without it you are more a defensive class.

Depends on build, depends on what you exactly want to do with it.

Do you want to clear hordes fast? Do you want to do a lot of damage to elites? etc

If you go down the left hand side you can quite easily 2 shot crushers and with thrust and crunch I believe its possible to one hit them with a headshot and some breakpoints, at least it was in previous patch but not sure about current one.

Knife kill horde. Club smash elite. Shovel and Mk4 cleaver krump both. Shield good for little ones.

i used the shield only alot but started using the power maul its pretty good for general use

All depends on what you want to do. You want crowd control for days? Shield is OP for knocking hordes around and shovels swat everyone around like flies and make everything around you bleed. Several weapons now allow you to stun lock everything up to plague ogryns, and both clubs and cleavers are DPS gods.

The krourk mark IV cleaver is pretty great, though it's much trickier to use than the bull butcher. However, that practice does pay off and it really does shine and come into its own in a melee damage build. I.e. leftmost branch.

Well I wouldn't say "best". Yeah it will keep you alive infinitely inside a horde, but you're not going to be killing them very fast at all. And you'll be doing it a bit slower than before too with the nerfs to bleed.

Pair that with the Loyal Protector ability, though, and now you're getting somewhere.

I suggest bull butcher mk3 if you are the machine gun build.
Basically shoot everything but horde with your gun and use the lawn mower of a knife on hordes to easily clear them
