Also since you can now just buy whatever gray weapons you want, the gearing problem should be far less. But I don't think you should. Leveling all 4 characters the most important thing I remember was to save your money, and absolutely save all your resources until you hit level 30. Because those are precious and take a lot of time, and you don't need them for leveling anyway. But at level 30, you really want them around. The mats you get from leveling are enough to fully upgrade a full set of gear and then some, iirc. not sure if curios too but, still.
Melee: obscurus Mk2 sword will carry you all the way up
Range: lower diff - sredder auto, higher - Recon lasgun, best - Purgatus staff
use BB often as anti-armor or very long range tool (outside of keeping warp charges ofc)
What's the point of being a crappier vet with a las pistol?
I say, get staff and start learning how to be at least a bit useful.
Psyker got H U G E buffs in last patch and it's not super underperforming as it was like 2 days ago. It's actually playable now and can contribute.
Have you actually ever touched psyker?
I don't know the levels to unlock them anymore but imo voidstrike staff is the best for dealing lots of damage/clearing hordes and the surge staff is great for support cc
if you have staff take toughness restoration on force attack, otherwise on b
although on quelling is also solid
brain burst trait for soulfire aoe if you hit a special softens up crowds and other elites - i quite like it
low level ranged...just slog through with whatever you feel comfortable still you got staves (some people really like gun psykers though? defeats the purpose imo)
as for melee
the new illia force sword is good as horde clearer and solid for single targets
the deimos is supposedly good against single targets mostly (but I dont like the attack pattern)
the obscurus is a good middle ground
not that the deimos and the obscurus lock you in an animation on their special attack which can be quite dangerous on higher difficult, the illia on the other hand works a little like a veterans power sword
for lower levels the dueling sword was my weapon of choice - fast, decent cleave and can handle hordes decent enough
as said before bb is your friend against tough enemies
on malice you will rarely need more then 2 to crack even the tough nuts (ogryns need more, but they get nicely softened up)
thers no need to use bb on standard mobs, except maybe to build up your warp charges
If you do use a surge staff, Quell Speed and Peril Resistance are probably the two most important stats; don’t worry about damage (lol lightning deals no damage). Don’t bother charging the staff all the way, just keep zapping everything to suppress shooters, stagger melee enemies, and keep your team safe.
When you need to damage things (bosses, ogryns, etc) use brain burst.
Force swords are great for peril resistance, but I much prefer duelling swords! The increased movement speed duelling swords grant make is easier to flee from bad situations.
