Weapons to Pair?? Whatever you feel like!?
Otherwise you're just vacuuming ammunition and being detrimental to your team, especially if all you do is mag-dump into trash.
Everything is Viable in Darktide!
However, on Hi-Intensity Damnation runs, some combinations of classes and weapons may or may not be as effective.
I main Psyker and I recently changed from running staffs to a Stub Revolver after switching my Veteran from Autopistol to Stub Revolver and loving it.
Most of the time I am either BB'ing or meleeing hordes with my Deimos, but I whip that big iron out fast like Clint Eastwood, to blow heads off ranged specials and gunners.
Yes, the Revolver means that I lack supression fire, but I trade that for accuracy and ammo economy (aiming better).
Thing is; and this is again my IMO; "classes" in Darktide doesn't really have roles a.k.a. with a Psyker for example, it is not my responsibility to deal with hordes.
I CAN deal with large groups if I choose the setups for it, but it is not my sole responsibility to deal with them just like it is not the Zealots responsibility to bring a flamer or an Veteran to be the only one taking out specials either.
9/10 times I fail a run (except for unlucky spawns) is because our group don't play in coherency with each other.
Loadouts are very rarely an issue because the game isn't really too difficult if you just play together instead of people ramboing.
Regarding Psyker with Stub Revolver I find that I play better that way because you become so stationary with a staff while with melee and a Revolver I dance around a lot and become hard to hit.
