Guide about how fix fps drops and stuttering
Ok, so this patch made the game laggy and stuttering.
I managed to fix it by disabling rtx settings in config file manually.
Here is how:
1. Disable rtx in game and enable dlss.
2. Close the game and open %appdata%\Fatshark\Darktide\user_settings.config using notepad.(C:\Users\*YOUR_USER*\AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide)
3. Make sure the following settings are set like this:

rt_checkerboard_reflections = false
rt_light_quality = false
rt_mixed_reflections = false
rt_particle_reflections_enabled = false
rt_reflections_enabled = false
rt_shadow_ray_multiplier = 0
rt_transparent_reflections_enabled = false
rtxgi_enabled = false
rtxgi_scale = 0

4. Save changes in config file, restart the game.

This seems to fix the constant FPS stutter during a match.
If the config file keeps resetting above settings, set it to read only after changing the parameters.

Do not change any of the hidden cfg files to read only!!!! Later on you will wonder why the game isn’t accepting your new settings. Not sure any of this is good advice.

You literally have no clue what any of this does, and considering you couldn't even find where your base sound setting were or what controller profile ini is, you are quite literally the last person to offer any opining, much less commandment on the subject.

The config files are set by the in game settings. Everyone but you know this. If you make one of them read only, changing the in game settings will not be remembered because they can no longer be saved. This was a old hack that some tried to use right after the game was released. It didn’t work then and it won’t work now. Ya think they didn’t make them read only for a reason?

Here is the real cause and solution.
They messed up the shader compilation and said it'll be reverted in a hotfix. If you keep playing the shaders will compile in realtime and eventually the game will be smooth again.

This, just play 1 complete match and the game plays like normal again for the rest of your session.

Double this. Mad stutters in the beginning of the first mission I played but then game sorted itself out towards the end and was mostly normal besides a rare stutter here and there.

No dev makes any ini read only unless it involves copy protection or using an API back end that's proprietary.

The in game menu does not and has not properly set runtime options and hasn't since launch. Facts. Not only facts but acknowledged by the developer two times, from two different people. You're a literal liar, and you're flat ass wrong.

The issue with stuttering is Fatshark ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the ordering and layout of the shader cache... again. For the third time.

Again you haven't faintest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea what you're talking about.

Come one, you've been lying your way through the forums yourself like a madman lately ^^

I thought you were a super busy best game dev ever, did that already change?

You have already been proven wrong about your "technical expertise" in several threads now. It's ok, you can let go now, no need to insult people ;)

were did they said this source?
No.
I'd rather wait for a patch, probably some time this week and play something else in the meanwhile. They ♥♥♥♥ up their game they fix it.

Have you tried smacking your tower with a mallet?

That should do the trick.

Even then you say play through a complete match at 20 fps then everything will be fine, and that’s just OK? in your head how ? Especially the part where you said per session. Meaning EVERY TIME YOU RE OPEN THE GAME?!?! You have to go through a stuttered hell before it plays like it should do from the very start ? even though you’re running every other game at 4K ultra/everything ray tracing and the works. But this game you can’t even pull low everything disabled performance boosters on thread priority’s and only at 1080 and it’s just OK to run like ♥♥♥♥ the first 30 minutes every time ??!!?? That’s madness and not Ok I’m a huge fat shark fan love vermintide I run it at 4k with everything on ultra and sliders 3/4 the way to the right for counts. And guess what it runs a steady 120 fps and looks. A hell of a lot nicer too. Whatever just admit that it’s not ok for Devs to leave a huge problem like that unresolved with no good excuse.

I have a 6900xt and a 3700x@4.9Ghz

So i gave this a try cause i was getting desperate and i went from 54-59fps with 99th percentiles in the 10-17fps range.

I am now very comfortable at 98-115Fps with 99th percentiles in the 70-80fps range

I cannon say thank you enough.:steamthumbsup:

turning OFF nVIDIA Threaded Optimisation (normally set to AUTO, which usually means ON) in nVIDIA Control Panel / 3D Settings / Programs / Darktide, reduced input lag significantly (for my system / settings)
