Low GPU usage
Hey i have a rtx 3070 and a 5800x and i only get ~60% GPU usage and ~40% CPU usage playing the game.
There is no fps cap to hold it back and it seems pretty low usage to me, can anyone with a similar setup confirm that this is normal?
Or does anyone have any tips on how to fix that?

Have you tried playing high-intensity in damnation yet? 'Cause that's where it pushes the hardware the most if anything.

But that should just lower my fps, not lower the GPU usage... that should be up high to pump out the maximum frames it can.
Make sure there arent any other power saving features turned on. Power management mode set it to prefer max performance. What resolution are you driving? What FPS do you get? Make sure things like vsync are turned off. What temps you get?

Power savings on OS and nvidia drivers are on max performance.
I play on 1080p and get ~80 fps on a 144hz G-Sync monitor.
Temps are ~60°C and turning off v-sync completly or playing with G-Sync makes no difference in this case.

relax, it's just completely unoptimized, the game can't load GPU to high numbers, playing on 5 difficulty and gpu load drops sometimes to 50, even 40% - on 3070ti and 5600x, it's fatshark, not something related with your pc

also bear in mind that it completely depends on the map you're playing, there are better maps for gpu load and abyssmal, even on 40xx series in big hordes you will notice drops to 50-60 fps, that's all the game can endure. maps with fog affix will affect gpu load negatively, while darkness affix will make the game very smooth and comfy

I was guessing, this is actually the problem

at 1080p you are CPU limited because you GPU is WAYYY overpowered for 1080p and it's waiting for the CPU to catch up.

this is why cpu game benchmarks are done at 1080p, once you go above that you become GPU limited.

I would recommend getting a 1440p monitor, you can get them for $250-300 now in the US

you can try turning up your graphics settings it might help a little

5800X is a great cpu!

I have a 5800X3D & 3080ti and I get 20-30% cpu usage and 90+% gpu usage at 1440p with pretty much everything maxed and low ray tracing, DLSS on balanced

I run some games at 1440p DSR but i'm quite sensitive to "low" framerates. I like to play at a stable >100fps normally and if you target these framerates a 3070 is not really overpowered at 1080p.
That's why i'm not buying a 1440p display, because i much rather go for higher fps and fidelity than resolution as long as i'm still used to 1080p.
You know how it goes, i'll buy a 1440p monitor and a week later i'm unable to go back to lower relsolutions :D

It would also be weird if the 5800x is bottlenecking at ~80 fps tbh cause as you said it's a great CPU. And none of the cores is at 100%. I know that's not the only way a CPU can bottleneck but still...
I'm playing on all high settings with RT off so there are no settings i could increase really other than RT and honestly i see barely any difference while getting a massive fps hit (as it is in basically all RT games so far for me)

So if someone else with a 5800x could confirm that this game is bottlenecking at 80 fps during runs please tell me.

I have a 5900x and 3080ti i get 85-120 fps @4k using dlss quality setting. One thing to do that might help is go to your config and turn ray tracing off in the config( the in game settings when u turn them off , its still has few in config on)

Every RT setting in the config seems to be off already.. do you know how your GPU/CPU usage is while playing?
Curious what happens when you lower the graphic settings? Like to low or lowest?

gpu on 4k its 98-99% and cpu around 25-30%( im on driver 528.49) Also I updated my
Mobo bios in march this yr .

You need to see where your memory is capped. If your memory is filled up, it's not going to be able to push through data to feed the processors. If you see your memory is close to full, then you need to reduce your texture quality or decrease resolution.
