Make a Warhammer online instead !
Could you use the same graphic engine to make a new warhammer online: Return of Reckoning ?

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning was a massively multiplayer online role-playing game based on Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy setting, developed by Mythic Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts in 2008 ...

I really hope the developers build a new warhammer online just with a much much better game engine and with alot bigger gameworld to play in ..

dont get me wrong i also love wf a lot but 40k is my true love and this game specially made by fatshark was one of my biggets dreams for gaming

i agree a wf-online could be cool but now is the time of 40k finally and i hope there is also a 40k mmo to come in addition (also a big dream of mine)

if both happened they can make another hundred wf games if they want :)

no offense but i really waited a long time for this as many other 40k fans so there is no way where i would agree to make an wf instead i would even sign that with my blood

the emperor protects

And it was about as generic an MMO as it can get and gave a crap about the Lore of the universe for the sake of balance.

You had people pointing and laughing at chaos knights as they couldn't do damage at all, because they were a "tank". I give you that it got the aesthetics down, but that was about the only thing it got right.

Why you would want a revival is beyond me.. it died for a reason.. a good reason.

Not to mention... do you have any idea what it costs to develop an MMO? And who is supposed to pay for that? Not to mention, do you actually realize that nobody is really investing into MMOs anymore? Why do you think that is? Most MMOs that get released these days are either korean, are over a decade old... or die within 2 years. There is just no more market for MMOs.

Why would you want them to make an MMO just so their company has to be sold? Not to mention that there is a snowball chance in hell that it actually will be good.

That is up to you, but i wouldn't call Star Wars galaxies "alive" just because SWGEmu gets 1500 players, either.

And neither does anyone else, or there would be a Server akin to Everquest 1 for people to play it. Alas, nobody believes it can make enough money to pay the licensing fees on mere 2k people.

It wouldn't require illegal private servers that exist on the grace of the license holder, if it was profitable. And that is what we were talking about.

i do agree with you, almost completely, but uh, search up ashes of creation, the mmo industry isnt dead its stagnant, ppl are actually craving an mmo thats got innovation to it^^

plenty of ppl want, but as you said, it costs a good sizable fortune. thats why there has been little to no innovation, they are afraid to step off the beaten path because of the massive sum of both creating and also its upkeep.

mmorpg are worthy no more : very long and very expensive to produce meaning high risk projects, lots of delayed projects lately and for good reason, most of them suck even according to the fans of the kind.

not to mention the expectations for a warhammer or wh40k mmorpg would be unlimited, the last ones just failed badly (WAR online as Eternal crusade the same)

MMO´s is just better in every aspect, and it is something you can expand on alot easyer by continue the allready told lore´s .. you can go any direction you want with MMO`s ..

Look at world of warcraft .. its a dead fish to be honest, for it is UNLESS .. they upgrade world of warcraft with the new Unreal 5 engine instead and make high quality detailed real time graphic´s instead of still being in the cartoon world ..

I hate Blizzard for staying in the old engine, instead of develop and release a new game engine similar to the one Unreal 5 can do, i really wish the whole game industry would step up and build good looking games instead of still develop choppy and ugly graphical games ..

Like this game from Mythic back in 2001 -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIAe8_qXISI

This is by far the best MMORPG ever made, the only reason i dont play it anymore is because of the lack of a good game engine that can put out cool graphic´s, in mmorpg you need graphic with minimum this grade of graphical details like this game engine here below ->

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVDcN4TVOoM

The cost ? well it is free for as long as you are a Unreal costumer and dont make more than 100k dollars a year from the game sales with it . so its only free for solo or small company´s that want to get started into the game development world !

you do realise that by the time solo's or small companies have made an mmo we could have colonized pluto right?:D

And it failed in 3 months, losing 63% of his servers. And being shutdown after some few years of agony. An epic fail with the EA money behind them.
Fatshark should stay at what they know to do.

Ps: A MMO cost between 30M and 50M to do (2005-2008). And the last ones were more than 100M. So, for the almost free argument...
We're not in 2001 anymore, where people could do a mmo in their garages. And customers be patient with a game where you had to look at your feets to have more than 10 fps when fighting for a relic.
People ragequit a game in the first month now. And for minor problems, so it's just unrealistic to spend a so high amount of money for a mmo which won't be perfect, and no ones will be. Its why almost every mmos failed these last years, but 3 or 4 exceptions since 2008 (teso, ff14, swtor). And the last two of them were near of failed at the beginning too. Forget it.

A Warhammer 40k MMO would be awesome, and it wouldn't succumb to the fatal issue that killed AoR. That is, two-faction PVP always snowballs against one side. (If you were ever wondering why so many PVP games have three factions, that's why)

In 40k, everything wants to kill everything else. Perfect. Yes, maybe the Tau and Humans team up to defeat a Hive Fleet (Behemoth wasn't it?) but then they go right back to killing one another. Balanced, as all things should be.

it still comes down to the same issues, you would need balanced teams here is the best list i have seen go give an idea of breakdown the numbers
https://www.tabletoptournaments.net/t3_armies.php?gid=3&cid=0

this shows space marines are mostly what people play but its not too bad just looking at them, sure the other two teams would need to be chaos and Eldar then we can space out the others too make it balanced, wait the 4th is Astra Militarum, well thats not good, they need to go with space marines, lets check what other need to go with them, yer its like 11 of the top 20, guess its everyone vs the Imperium of Man, wait we know that does not work

they only real way it would work is if you throw out the canon and just let anyone fight with anyone if which case why make it 40k?
Remember dark millennium online? Me neither...
