everyone else will take a hit while sliding... especially sucks when it makes you stutter a half second before you swing mid slide... missing the foo
I can dodge it by sprinting
Other than that, I can shoot them in the head and be immune to ranged for a whole second
Or I can charge the shooter with ult from 50 meters away
Plenty of alternatives to the maneuver of a dog wiping its ass on grass popularized by COD.
Possibly... but I don't have an issue on zealot...
psyker/ vet and especially ogryn always get fing hit mid slide
The biggest reason I personally don't use it that often is that if you get hit at all while doing it you instantly lose all momentum unless you're an Ogryn or you're running the level 20 Zealot perk that makes you immune to stuns and staggers. And thanks to input lag, enemy melee hitreg jank and phantom range (taking hits even though you're out of range because the enemy started to swing before you dodged out of range), etc., you can get staggered out of the slide fairly often even with perfect timing on your end. If you were relying on the slide to get you away from a Gunner or Reaper firing line, you're probably dead because of that loss of momentum, or at least way more injured than if you'd just dodged into cover normally.
I don't think there's a need for slide dodging, but not sliding seems like a great way to eat tons of damage. Slide dodge was very unreal when you could move an Ogryn dash distance with it, but that was nerfed before the game even launched. Who had developed their move tech that much that early on?
B-but I was told this wasn't cod of duty re: immeasurably complex weapon customization...
Ohh right yeah there was something wonky about the default controls. Back when the game was released, a lot of people bound space to sprint / dodge, and shift to crouch. That pretty much solves all the issues. Just gotta get used to using some other button for jumping, those rare few times you ever need to jump. I don't even remember the defaults but they really didn't do the game any services.
