"Set your Fatshark account name"

Hello,
After a long break I wanted to play Darktide. I downloaded some updates today and when I launched the game a window popped up saying "Set your Fatshark account name". This has never happened to me since I always launched the game through Steam. I can't skip this window and therefore I can't play. I restarted the computer, verified the integrity of the game files, re-login in Steam, nothing helped. Please help me in solving the above problem.

Did you try just putting your desired name in

All your progress, characters, crafting materials and stuff are stored on the Fatshark Atoma servers, to connect you are given Fatshark Atoma account, if your steam login is not taken / not deemed offensive - you get it without registering. Else you have to register one.
This happened during introduction of crossplay, even Steam now requires Atoma account.

I did not register for example, didn't even knew it was a thing until people started talking about it, so this means I got mine automatically made. Without Atoma account you have no progression, no access to ingame shops and no ability to play the game.

it's part of the recent patch for shared currencies on your characters, just make a name or whatever

I was afraid that my progress in the game would disappear.

No this was added so crossplay would be a thing
