Chaos Spawn is unacceptably terrible to fight (without a thunder hammer)
Edit:
Since the class updates I have had zero issues with Chaos Spawn. Either the compensation in the class talents have made it less annoying to deal with, the A.I. is more enjoyable to right, or both. Either way: I don’t find it nearly as unacceptably terrible.

I've enjoyed the bosses in Darktide so far, but this guy sucks. I've fought him a dozen times already and it's like fighting a Daemonhost with slightly less damage and removing one team member from the fight. It constantly attacks, and when you're on Damnation difficulty, or even Heresy, it's just aggravating because it is obviously never alone.

Only time I've ever had fun fighting it is as a Preacher with a Thunder Hammer and just 3 or 4 shotting it with head shots-- but with randoms not only is it difficult to do that even with a hammer, but the thing is so stupidly tanky that not even a max damage veteran with a bolter unloading a clip can do too much because of how much it moves it's wonky head hitbox.

I hate fighting this thing. It's like you need a thunder hammer to fight it, just like a Daemonhost.

Love the game so far and played since launch, despite its flaws and optimization issues-- but it's like FatShark hardly tested this boss. He's not even that hard, just a damage sponge and annoying. It does what the Plague Ogryn is supposed to do but better, and is even more tanky than the BoN because of how fast and wonky it's weakpoint hitbox is.

It's like fighting a generic FPS boss but it's high on meth while you're still at your usual slow speed.

TL;DR: Obligatory "git gud" but this dumb thing just ruins any mission I come across. Just not fun at all to fight with it being a damage sponge and annoyingly fast with wonky hitboxes.

EDIT: Note: This isn't about Chaos Spawn solo. None of the bosses are hard when it's just a boss alone. The main gripe is that bosses are all spawned sloppily but Chaos Spawn is the absolute worst of them all.

A creature worthy of the title BOSS. Giant slow poke slug with giant crit on back and giant predictable green hulk. One tank and the other three smack just like in verm 2. The only thing to really say is the grab is bs. Git Gud

It's the only monstrosity worthwhile in the game. The other 2 options (not counting the easily avoidable DH) are a joke. If a team gets wiped from a Plague Ogryn or a Pizza the Hut, you need to drop a level of difficulty. Only the Chaos Spawn is an enjoyable encounter, because it's a challenge and a threat. But from the way you've worded your gripe, it sounds like you prefer to play on ez mode.

The Chaos Spawn can be avoided pretty easily, but it does take 1 player out at times as they've got to defend, the other 3 pile onto it, then it changes target and a new player defends. If it grabs someone, move into melee, it won't bite them to regen, but instead swing the grapped player like a weapon, which you can dodge - then it will throw them and the process begins again.

so.... git gud? :)
The chaos spawn gets shellacked by ogryn's shovel if you want another weapon that makes it a joke. When its in a high stagger state from a grenade, box of hurt, barrel or bull rush you can punch it with the shovel and it will stagger again. And again. Punch combos into heavy 1 and you have time for both. Sometimes when I'm dominating a spawn with this I'll try to line it up with a ledge and push it off because it repeatedly staggers back from this.

Uh oh, inb4 "skill issue" galaxy brain crowd.

See, the issue isn't Chaos Spawn solo-- all the bosses are super easy.

Chaos Spawn appears at the worst possible time and does more disruption than PO or BoN ever could. It's like a nerfed DH. Sure, you can block and avoid a lot of damage, and it stunning a player is fine and all-- but the primary issue is that the boss feels like it is sloppily spawned in.
PO and BoN are pathetically easy, unfortunately, and aren't all that memorable so the sloppy boss spawning is somewhat okay with them, but Chaos Spawn is just extremely obnoxious.

Ever had that map with lava and have to hack the terminals. Theres no music but a CS will appear in the event. Even though the spawn point is up ahead. Funny little bug

I look forward to 5 years from now when the game will be primo just like Vermintide 2 but for now these bugs are a horrid dredge to deal with.
I hate how they designed the bosses here... there is a massive gap between bosses and other creatures that to me makes little sense in this universe...

Personally I think there should be another class of enemies standing between bosses and elites... A place where "that boss with plasma pistol" or others such maybe a "Heavy Boltgun dotation" that gets deployed on certain area, or even something like a sentinel could be sitting... some that could get spawned more than a single time but not on an absurd amount.

Instead the game spawns massive amounts of specials and pretends to cover that gap this way... but then you see all the problems of the game... like infantry clipping through ogryns, the net problems and hit reg, random moments where even a single scab shooter can break your whole toughness on a quarter of a second.. etc...

For me the problem with the Bosses is that they are mostly a giant bullet sponge... that may ruin your run on the wrong time, but I actually think the problems on such situation are the others stated... I would love to see those problems solved and get redesigned the bosses to be less bullet sponge but harder to fight (them requiring better timing to avoid more critical damage)... yet I cannot imagine that treatment for them with the state of the game.

I've been able to cope with it on every difficulty with a competent team, except Damnation which I just haven't played recently.

Just block and dodge.
If you or someone get grabbed, just 1 teammate walk up so that instead of eating you, he uses you to slam the other person away who only takes toughness damage.
Gives more value to stamina curios.

This game is not worth getting good at so.

So, no?

The Chaos Spawn is the most diffcult boss, it moves fast and has difficult ti hit weakspots (compared to other monstrosities). It can take out a low level team, especially if someone pancs and starts to run. I too struggled with it for some time, meanwhile I learned how to fight it. The basic attacks are quite weak and can be blocked, which makes the spawn attack someone else. If you have an ogryn in your team, he can charge it in case the Chaos Spawn grabbed someone.

You can check how to fight each Boss Solo for Vermintide 2.
As the Chaos Spawn was literally copy pasted from that game, the guide works without a problem.

Damnation is where it's at its worst. Heresy it can be dealt with-- but Damnation throws everything at you with maximum health and damage and the CS alone is fine-- but everything else with the CS is not.

Again: Not the CS alone. CS solo is fine and easy, even if it's obnoxiously tanky. It's when the game spawns several hordes and legions of specials at the same time as they appear.
