Keep farming mats and buy greys or no?
Cause everyones saying this games system is gonna take 6 months to rollout when they only missed the date by 1 or 2 weeks at this point for the crafting system. Whats the real scoop why the radio silence the more you talk to me and assure me that my grinding is worth doing the more I would continue playing. Yes git gud or whatever copium but some weapons aren't that usable without certain blessings and I'm tired of using the same loadout every mission and checking the shop blah blah games getting stale after 100+ hours let me build my weapons so I can rock 3 or 4 loadouts per character and play how I want or at least let me know how hard you missed the deadline so I know if I should come back. Btw bought all 4 cosmetic packs gameplay is good gave you like 100 bucks now can I have crafting?

Why buy greys? The rumour about only greys having 380 base stat potential is a lie, I've personally witnessed this buying a 380 base stat blue item from the regular RNG store. More importantly, 380 base stats is *way* more than you need, given that every weapon has dump stats that make no difference whatsoever. Some of my best weapons are 320 stat items I found in the store, which just happened to have a near perfect stat distribution, and came with the right perks and blessings.

I've played close to 400 hours by now I think, and while these are subject to being matters of opinion, these are my tips from what I've learned:

  • Have fun. The grind is too immense to be worth it for the grind alone. Instead, just play that Heresy and Damnation. You might fail a lot and get next to no materials, but you're having fun. And that's the only thing worth doing in general, and especially right now given how little other content there is to the game.
  • Materials, specifically plasteel, are the slowest things to earn by far, Do not waste them on greys unless you have extra.
  • Consider making multiple characters. I actively play my psyker, vet and zealot, and sometimes even my oggy. All level 30 and all decently to very well geared by now. This gives you a bigger pool of viable RNG hits in total.
  • Keep a notepad of your highest base rating melee, weapon and curio for each character. If you see something higher in the store, buy it. While I can't prove or disprove this, rumour is that your highest base gear acts as a cap to how high quality gear the RNG store can even give you.
  • Best way to get an endgame build is to find out about good weapons and curios for each of your classes / builds. Then stalk both the stores (the regular money store and the weekly credit store daily). Specifically, look for items with great base stat DISTRIBUTION (not just overall score, though they correlate, they are not the same), and also great perks and blessings. Do not forget that for many weapons, perks are even more important than blessings (looking at you plasma), since they can add up to +25% dmg and you can only reroll one perk.
  • When you find a weapon with a good perk and hopefully a decent blessing, buy it. Then upgrade it, and reroll the second more than likely trashy perk to another good one.
  • Remember that some of the best blessings like say Deflector on Force Sword, cannot be found in the regular store, they're only orange level upgrades. This means you need to upgrade a weapon that high yourself and pray, or get lucky enough to find one in the weekly credit store.
  • And I stress: because there is no way to guarantee getting a specific weapon with good stats, a specific perk and blessing, do not get stuck hunting on just that one. Always keep an eye open for multiple potentials. If you're going for a specific build you will likely take forever to get there. If you're open to multiple builds with different weapons - even different characters -, you're extremely likely to find those items every once in a while.
  • Lastly, like I said, have fun. Just... experiment, make your own builds, try new things. There's a lot of wrong information out there, and many effective ways to play people never talk about. For example the Infantry Autogun can be insane if it's a good one. Trauma staff is incredible when you learn how to use it, despite everyone hating it. Etc.

Arani you are 100% wrong about not being able to get Deflection on a store item. My first deflection force sword was a random blue quality item in the store. Anything can roll there, it's just very unlikely anything particularly useful will.

Don't spend any mats until lvl 30 or you're a fool.

Yeah bro greys are much better for 380s cause you can just implant the blessings on them based on the information we have at the moment where it will be more expensive to change blessings and reroll when its a colored weapon already. I got no clue what the rest of the wall of text said but I'm wanting the game developer to tell me if I can use my weapons and blessings in the combination I want and when. I have 4 lvl 30's. Did you not click me and look at achievements? I'm like 30/36.

Same thing here, had a few force swords with deflection from the store although it's a very rare blessing.

The thing with grey's is that you can bump them up to green with little to no cost in resources and if the perk is ♥♥♥♥♥, then you can scrap it and not waste resources. If you get a good perk then go to blue.

there is every value to buying greys because:
1) what else are you doing with your cash?
2) it's the highest probability of getting the blessings and perks you want (while still RNG)
3) eventually, when the rest of crafting gets added, (this is conjecture from the community, mind you), we can potentially break down items for components,

... so those greys you upgraded in to crap because of Hadron RNG may be useful later.

re: 380 - it does make a difference to have a maximized item in this game, it's just less of a difference than you might feel in VT because this game has a far higher skill ceiling for player ability to make a difference than VT every did or will.

After 350 hours, I've got several 380s of each weapon type, testing out different dump stats and distributions, and have upgraded most of them to at least purple to check the perks.

It was never about the money. The point was that it's much more effective, time-wise, to spend your rare crafting materials on upgrading gear that already has some of the perks/blessings you want, instead of wasting them on complete RNG with whites, because there is nothing inherently better with whites. Also AFAIK, you do not get any better blessings / feats by upgrading up to purple yourself. It's not about who does the upgrading, it's about high tier blessings being exclusive to orange gear. Whether you make that final upgrade yourself, or just find one from the weekly store, makes no difference. I could be wrong of course, but this is my understanding, and it does match what I've experienced upgrading countless weapons myself. I've never gotten rare blessings on blues.

But most of all, emotional bias? Like... what? Why? What do emotions even have to do with this? Could you explain?

The point of keeping greys is for the craft system. did you even read my post dude? Its cheaper to put blessings on weapons than it is to reroll the blessings if you get the wrong stuff on high stat bar weapons. You read nothing I said and put in some giant post that has nothing to do with anything I spoke on which is transparency and communication from the game developer because I feel like crafting is never coming which means me farming up blessings and greys to use with the crafting system is pointless and making me not want to continue. I have fun with the game I have like 200 hrs, but its pretty stale when I can only run 1 or 2 loadouts between each of my 4 characters because the weapon and blessing just isn't there to make the loadout feel smooth or click. Read my post dude and stop with these long winded weird emotional issues you got. You wrote a whole guide in equipment selection which has NOTHING to do with what I posted and you didn't even check how many hours I have logged or the four leave clover achievement as you told me how to play the game and how to make different characters.

I know exactly why. It's because we're still playing the beta and the real release date will be when it reaches consoles. That's the truth.

All of this stuff will not roll out until they're almost ready to release the console version of the game. They're not going to make any major changes until they get the game released on everything they plan to release it on. The reason being is that they don't want to give everything to pc players since it could hamper the sales on console.

SO. You are currently still playing the beta. That is exactly what's going on.

This
Keep in mind only Melk gear has t3 and t4 blessings. Best you can get upgrading anything from the regular armory is t3 on ♥♥♥♥ blessing type. Most will be t1 and t2. For example, Haymaker on Bully Club can only be on purple or orange gear, either from melk or emperor gift. All armory gear is either t1 or t2, even if you upgrade at Hadron it will always give you a t1 or t2 Haymaker.

I literally answered your topic and question about what is worthwhile to do.

you didn't even check how many hours I have logged or the four leave clover achievement as you told me how to play the game and how to make different characters.
Yes I don't creep and stalk other people's profiles. Honestly I don't understand people who do. Plus expecting that, is expecting a LOT of effort if you're asking every single person to come to a topic to check the profile, achievements and logged hours of every topic they respond to.

Speaking of effort, I put a lot of it and thought into writing that up for you, to help you. And you reply with nothing but insults. I have no idea what about my post seemed so emotional to you. But I can promise you I feel quite emotional right now. Thank you for that, and welcome to my block list. Good bye.
