Ogryn's annoying to play with.
Anyone else find the Ogryn class really obnoxious to play with? The Ogryn class is actually really non-synergistic with other classes except Psykers.

As a Sharpshooter Ogryn's just get in the way. Like, all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time; and they don't seem to appreciate how that impacts the other classes and their abilities. Wasted ammo dumped into their backside aside, having my feats literally blocked from proc'ing is incredibly annoying, especially if they're built for team play or sustain over damage. Having my ult interrupted at a key point is probably the most maddening example of how Ogryn's impact the flow/performance of a strike team by simply existing.

Other examples include:
Being unable to save other players with cover fire "because Ogryn".
Being unable to prioritise elites "because Ogryn".
Being unable to replenish own toughness "because Ogryn".
Being unable to "weak spot" hit "because Ogryn"

For the zealot, the Ogryn has a tendency to knock enemies over without killing them. Either with their melee weapon or with their charge ability. This is pretty much the only time enemies will hit the deck completely whilst not dying and as a result it's actually quite disorientating trying to figure out what's dead and what's not in a melee. What then tends to happen is the strike team follows an Ogryn rampaging like a mad man only to get trapped by the floored walkers rising like an army of Necrons and torn to pieces.

Other examples include:
Being unable to dodge elites "because Ogryn".
Being unable to prioritise appropriate targets "because Ogryn".
Being unable to "weak spot" hit "because Ogryn".

So the main recourse I have is to just let the Ogryn run in alone and die. Which, whilst lore accurate, doesn't make for great game play.

Somewhat fair, yes

Ogryns can get in the way but I still appreciate them, have noticed that a lot of Ogryn players are generally pretty decent and thoughtful, though playing 1 vet 3 ogryn is a recipe for pain. Anything you have lined up to shoot will be blocked, knocked over by grenade gauntlet/rumbler or knocked over but not killed, so when you could clear a room of gunners in 3s it ends up taking 15s and people can take unnecessary damage. Ogryns, please do not run through a veteran who has just lit up the whole room of gunners, run to the side instead.

All classes can benefit from playing the other classes since they all do stuff that can be irritating but isn't immediately obvious, like vets shooting single non-gunners a psyker is trying to brain burst to keep up stacks etc. Just because you can kill something doesn't always mean you should which is something not many players grasp well.

A good ogryn is worth it's weight in gold. It can carry, it can cc very well, tank up front. Not sure how you play, but a lot of sharpshooters could do more to position themselves better.

I mean that's not unique to the Ogryn. I'd argue that 3 of the 4 classes can easily solo and CC besides the vet.

I would concede though that Veteran will be an entry class for a lot of new players so you're just as likely to get a silly Veteran player. But a silly Veteran player is silly because of a skill issue, not because the class itself contradicts a lot of core game play mechanics.

I have at least one Ogryn in every party; sometimes 2; and I have 0 problems shooting around them. Oh and the "run in and die" part? if they're dying then they apparently do not know how to play the Ogryn.

Well there are even those that go "reeeeeeee" shooting at the first thing in sight or lighted up by their own special or psyker bb, or shooting dood engaged in melee instead of clean up the ones shooting just 2m away.
It ain't a class issue but a skill issue of sadly many players.

Spend half the map actively avoiding the Veteran. Block him once by mistake and feel his wrath.

I agree and I play both Ogryn and Veteran. As an Ogryn I'm always trying to stay out of the way for Vets to take the longer shots. As a Vet I try to hang back and side step to get those long shots in; always helps when a target is marked though sometimes my character can't see that far and if the volley fire is on cool down I just have no idea where the sniper/gunner/whatever is.

As someone that maxxed zealot and veteran first (in that order) I understand the ogryn issue. In some cases it's totally the ogryn players fault (idiots that constantly run into the line of fire even when there's obvious red lasers flying past them from behind), but in most cases it's simply players needing to learn how to play better with one another, this goes for all classes and players.

As a zealot (and every other class since) I got used to simply taking an extra swipe at groups laying on the ground if there is an ogryn on the team.

As a vet I learned to position and reposition regularly to get to the sides of the fight. I wind up rushing around the fights while scanning for threats if there is a moron constantly jumping in the way.Eeven if it's in a tight corridor there are ways to get an open fireline going, if the ogryn is running or fighting on one side of a hallway make sure to stick to the opposite side like glue.

Now that I'm finally leveling an ogryn (got the other 3 maxxed and geared up so might as well), you just have to be mindful of other players on the team. Once again, it's about sticking to the sides. Pick a side of a hallway or fight opposite of the rest of the squad and just stay there, that way the vets and psykers can get a clean view of the fight to take out the big threats. Also as an ogryn, I do the same as I do as a zealot, always take an extra swipe at anything I've knocked down to make sure they're dead.

Basically... train your Ogryns to be good team mates if they're constantly running in front of you, ask them to fight side on or to run through groups and hit em from behind instead of just blindly rushing ahead and standing in front of everyone. And be ready to change your own playstyle on the fly when needed, the majority of ogryn aren't blocking your shots or leaving groups of mobs alive on the ground intentionally.

Nah, I hate playing with vets because the majority of them can't aim for ♥♥♥♥ and have no situational awareness.

In the beginning I had same thoughts as OP. Meanwhile it changed... maybe due the playerpopulation or other factors I don`t know.

Playd a lot enjoyable sessions with Oggys from T3 to T5 on. Of course got also enough craprounds and gone mad by things mentioned by OP. On the other hand saw enough other classes and ppl that sucked to the moon.... so I don`t try to prejudice.

I think its not about the ogryn class... its mainly either skill, on the way gettin it or some ego trip.

I think you mean "Annoying to play with... from a Veteran side"

Honestly they're very helpful on the Zealot side and contribute a great deal to melee, they really pull their own weight especially when they grab the attention of the pack of Elites like Bulworks, Ragers, Crushers coming in at you, its great when they knock them on their az and you can just tee off on them at that point with Charged Thunder Hammer strikes... they are also very helpful on the Psycher side because they protect them so well and keep the bad guys off. Also since Psychers tend to go down a lot more they are usually the ones picking them up again.

BUT... yes for Vets they block the view quite a bit and generally annoy the crap out of them...

They aren't however, annoying to Zealots who can use them for cover while running a Flamer behind them as another piece of cover... , or for Psychers who enjoy their protection.
