All classes can benefit from playing the other classes since they all do stuff that can be irritating but isn't immediately obvious, like vets shooting single non-gunners a psyker is trying to brain burst to keep up stacks etc. Just because you can kill something doesn't always mean you should which is something not many players grasp well.
I mean that's not unique to the Ogryn. I'd argue that 3 of the 4 classes can easily solo and CC besides the vet.
I would concede though that Veteran will be an entry class for a lot of new players so you're just as likely to get a silly Veteran player. But a silly Veteran player is silly because of a skill issue, not because the class itself contradicts a lot of core game play mechanics.
+1
It ain't a class issue but a skill issue of sadly many players.
#OgrynLivesMatters
As a zealot (and every other class since) I got used to simply taking an extra swipe at groups laying on the ground if there is an ogryn on the team.
As a vet I learned to position and reposition regularly to get to the sides of the fight. I wind up rushing around the fights while scanning for threats if there is a moron constantly jumping in the way.Eeven if it's in a tight corridor there are ways to get an open fireline going, if the ogryn is running or fighting on one side of a hallway make sure to stick to the opposite side like glue.
Now that I'm finally leveling an ogryn (got the other 3 maxxed and geared up so might as well), you just have to be mindful of other players on the team. Once again, it's about sticking to the sides. Pick a side of a hallway or fight opposite of the rest of the squad and just stay there, that way the vets and psykers can get a clean view of the fight to take out the big threats. Also as an ogryn, I do the same as I do as a zealot, always take an extra swipe at anything I've knocked down to make sure they're dead.
Basically... train your Ogryns to be good team mates if they're constantly running in front of you, ask them to fight side on or to run through groups and hit em from behind instead of just blindly rushing ahead and standing in front of everyone. And be ready to change your own playstyle on the fly when needed, the majority of ogryn aren't blocking your shots or leaving groups of mobs alive on the ground intentionally.
Playd a lot enjoyable sessions with Oggys from T3 to T5 on. Of course got also enough craprounds and gone mad by things mentioned by OP. On the other hand saw enough other classes and ppl that sucked to the moon.... so I don`t try to prejudice.
I think its not about the ogryn class... its mainly either skill, on the way gettin it or some ego trip.
I think you mean "Annoying to play with... from a Veteran side"
Honestly they're very helpful on the Zealot side and contribute a great deal to melee, they really pull their own weight especially when they grab the attention of the pack of Elites like Bulworks, Ragers, Crushers coming in at you, its great when they knock them on their az and you can just tee off on them at that point with Charged Thunder Hammer strikes... they are also very helpful on the Psycher side because they protect them so well and keep the bad guys off. Also since Psychers tend to go down a lot more they are usually the ones picking them up again.
BUT... yes for Vets they block the view quite a bit and generally annoy the crap out of them...
They aren't however, annoying to Zealots who can use them for cover while running a Flamer behind them as another piece of cover... , or for Psychers who enjoy their protection.
