Zola is the real traitor
I'm calling it. She already betrayed the cartel she worked for as a serious criminal to push herself to heights within the Imperium. She already rose to her current status out of the gutter by being a rat, so why not do the same to the Imperium, which is no better than the gang she was with before anyway?

The person shot at trust level 30 was her fallgirl, a prisoner she assumedly approved to fight for the inquisition. She is playing us all for fools, and looking at her with this lens makes all her dialogue make a lot more sense.

She is working for the heretics as a mole, and if you don't agree, you must be in cahoots with her.

I'd be surprised if the first "strong woman" you meet in the game, who freed you from the cell and shut the comically rude guard up at the beginning of the game turned out to be the traitor, but it would certainly be an interesting turn of events.

An effective traitor is the kind that can win trust with the right people. She already proved effective at winning trust with the cartel to work for them, but at the same time win trust with the Imperium to the point of achieving authority within it in spite of her sleazy background. What did Zola have to do to prove her loyalty to the Imperium? She already has proven effective at being a turncoat in an environment that would punish them severely like the cartel by aligning herself with the Imperium.

Being real, Zola stabbing everyone in the back due to that being her lot in life is honestly a pretty good way of salvaging what we have as a story in my opinion.

I don’t get why anyone would be a traitor when being an agent of chaos effectively means you get infected by the corruption.

The story so far already demonstrated that a traitor was effective in infiltrating the inquisition up to the cutscene at trust level 30, no? The person shot by the Rannick didn't look corrupted outwardly in any aspect during the cutscene.

So you’re saying she had to be corrupted inwardly?

Still making those fanfics I see. For how much you claim to hate W40k lore, you sure are thinking about it a lot.

If there is a Traitor among the upper echelon then its the Sergeant. He has his own special forces that the other members of the team keep complaining about going into places they shouldn't be going to. He has a long standing history with being exposed to chaos in multiple theatres and of all the people... And in that one mission where you have to send a message at all the other warbands bypassing the Morningstar, it is suggested that whoever the traitor is has highlevel access to all the operations. And that sure isn't Zola, Hedron or any of the others, but the guy with actual private killsquads going places they shouldn't be going.

This has to do with the game itself, which I do like, and not the awfully written lore the game is based on.

If we go that logic, Rannick seems to be the most likely suspect, as he is not only of high rank, but is the one who decided to shoot the traitor in front of everyone, instead of capturing them, so they could be grilled for information. I like to believe that he is just a pawn who is being played by the real traitor among us all.

It could use a story though, and this is what could help it along to be more interesting with what it has right now.

well yeah you have a point there i would love for this game to have a real story line
Ishan451 Jan 22, 2023 @ 2:00pm
But Dan Abnett co-wrote for this game.... it surely has better story than some C.S. Goto novel... /sarcasm SCNR
