There was another game that launched like this. Anthem.
Did anyone have the misfortune of playing that? Unfortunately I did, on day one. Let's do a quick rundown of Anthem's launch:
  • Had a pre-launch "beta" that was barebones. Players huffed the hopium Bioware farted out that not all game systems were active for it, more was coming.
  • Launch day, the game is exactly the same, if not worse with server issues from more players.
  • Game launched with broken, nonsensical systems. Bugged perks, skills, stats meant nothing. Everything was placeholder and arbitrary.
  • Staggering lack of story. Plot unfolded through dialogue with NPCs every few levels in a hub area. Hmm.
  • Moment to moment gameplay was great, everything else around it was extremely poor.
  • Launched with a rotating cash shop which worked perfectly.
  • No endgame of substance existed for at least a year.
Did FS actually follow the Anthem script? Cuz' damn, that all seems pretty familiar. The question is, why? We know through some article expose's and developer commentary what happened with Anthem (Poor leadership direction, wasted time). Is something similar afoot at FS, or worse?

At the end of the day, some of us have been here before.

There were also other games that launched like this. Vermintide and Vermintide 2. There is certain pattern to Fatshark madness. Chances are Darktide will be ok.
So just because there are murders what killed before... its ok if I kill someone, because someone commited murder before?

i believe you never played anthem and just bandwagoning. anyone who played anthem knows the game looked great but lack of updates and boring maps.....the game wasnt fun enough for a repeat grind.

Anthem was not based on any IP, this game actually damages the WH40k brand and GW should sue.

I played Anthem day one as well, Darktide is not NEARLY as bad by comparison.
Comparsion with Anthem is not argument. Its accusation. :D :D :D Can you belive that you have to compare this launch to one of the biggest liverkick in gaming history? Do you know how sad it is, when the only thing you found to compare with Darktide was Anthem? :D Can you comprehend it? :D

I don't remember Vermintide 2 missing huge features like crafting at launch. It definitely wasn't perfect but at least it was all there. Sure they added much needed features later, but nothing promised was not left out (unless you are talking about dedicated servers, which were sort of promised and never delivered).

I got Anthem to a VGA I purchased. So didn't had to buy it. (not that i planned) But it was horrible. Visuals and world was avesome. Also the flying around. But combat and missions and even the story was terrible.

Congrats, you're the only sane person in the thread so far.

Anthem actually had updates though. They were just all the wrong ones. Fatshark pushed out like 3 updates and then went on vacation for a month and some change. We likely won't see a patch until the ass end of this month.

And then they'll likely start scratching their head on how retention dropped despite all these terrible retention mechanics.

It did have updates, and Darktide surely will as well.

Anthem could have been a great game. It was supposed to be. I had fun with it, the gameplay was incredible, flying, etc. It's the same deal with Darktide. Gameplay is great, but the skeleton it is built upon is horrendous.

Anthem doesn't have GW fandom doing the heavy lifting.

At the end of the day, some of us have been here before.

EA done this before and several times, and yet they keep getting MEGA-ULTIMATE SALES.

Just be glad this isn't full of Card packs like Fifa or Madden. Card packs of weapons and curios. Otherwise you are stuck with the 20% starter weapons

EA even did worse than that, and released completely broke af simcity, and added dlc and expansion to it yet never fixed base issues.

I would say Anthem was a MUCH bigger disappointment simply because of all the hype they put into the game before the launch.

Remember the trailer talking about how it was dedicated to grouping with friends and all the special events it would offer?

I barely read anything on Darktide before launch
