Is the "On Overwatch" Penance Broken?
Anyone know? I've done it 3 times and Its not awarding the penance. Mind you its hard as hell and I had to use the guides for that one level that makes it a bit easier. Still, I want my gas mask and I'm getting upset that its not unlocking. If anyone knows if its broken, let me know.

If it isn't unlocking that means you took melee damage from something. Mutants and dogs both count as melee damage. That means a dog randomly flying by your face and bypassing your 200 toughness to take 1 health is considered melee damage.

I got it a couple days ago without even meaning to, just completing my weeklies. It's not broken.

from what I heard, even just taking a melee attack consideres you having failed the challenge.
so even if you tank a melee hit and dont take health damage, you lost the challenge.
however thats simply what I have heard, no proof of it being this way whatsoever

Anyone know if blocking a mele attack will also negate the penance?

It is not broken, just tough.

With that said, it ONLY counts health damage from regular hits (so with full toughness you have one attack worth of buffer); however mutants and dogs are not so forgiving. Getting grabbed, pounced, or knocked back by either will nullify your shot at it even if you're rescued immediately and take no health damage.

just find a team that can carry you and jump off a ledge at the beginning and not have them rescue your for the entire mission.

Well... It took a few more tries, but i got it. On to the 100 percent accuracy penance....

What did you do for that mission? Did you take any melee hit at all, or just some that didn't break through your toughness?

I guarantee you can take a hit if you have full toughness. I took several when I did mine. I did NOT take a dog or a mutie, but I read reports they are different and will nullify it even without breaking toughness.

fire counts as melee, so I've heard. Barrels, grenades, ect. I got the penance taking plenty of toughness damage but no direct hp damage aside from a slight bit of fall damage. toughness wont save you from them.

I just used active camo, stayed twoards the back. Had a really good team and was lucky enough to not get hit with melee, i was able to block though. So fyi, you can block melee attacks. There are a few guides on youtube that will help. Just took me longer than most. Also just to be clear, I took ranged damage, but ZERO scabs or dregs got close enough to hit me so I got very lucky.

I'm very mixed on this. Had a guy who joined asked if we can protect him. We let him hug the corner while the rest of us kept an eye on enemy wandering too close but he didn't get it in the end even though as far as I'm aware they didnt get a single scratch.

Were you present in the match from the very beginning? (I mean the screen before the drop ship)

For me, blocking attacks and 100% toughness absorption did not fail the penance
