Sharpshooter grenade no bounce penance (SOLUTIONS HERE)

I managed to get this very easily by quick-throwing a grenade and keeping the heads of the enemies at the bottom of my screen, it works at fairly close range, check the marked awnser and if that doesn't work there's a lot of other suggestions in the replies

How the hell am i supposed to hit/kill 5 people at once with a grenade that hasn't touched the ground or any walls?

I've tried throwing it straight up, it'll explode mid air
I've tried lobbing it up, it hits the ground far before it blows up
I've tried throwing in an arc, but the arc is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ big i won't hit anything with it

I've seen people say you need to be at a high position and then it'll work but even in those cases the grenade will touch the baddies/ground before it blows.
Again an arc isn't really an option there because i'll just throw it very far into a distant wall.

Can you cook grenades? Is there something i'm missing?

Remember the mission where you steal ammo from trains?
If you stand on the platform where you bring the ammo to, you can throw your grenade towards the door where your team entered the location.
Then simply ask your team to just not complete the event and get lucky that the enemy hordes spawn from there instead of other locations.
(one person also could stay up there to keep a few enemies there)

The grenade will explode before hitting the floor, all you need to do is find the right angle and timing.
You certainly arent allowed to hit anything with the grenade, not even an enemy. Only the explosion is allowed to do anything.
And nope, cant cook grenades

Throw it high.

Look up and quick throw it, for some reason the timer is much shorter. Just practice or get lucky. You have 4 tries as the vet especially against a horde.

Throw it at a mob from 45 metres away, aim it high enough so the arc trail thingie disappears just above them. Mark the enemy mob so that you can see when you're far enough away.

Practice this technique in the meat grinder then in-game: Find a group of enemies about 15-20m away, look up so their heads are just within your FOV, then tap the throw button. Works almost every time.

There's a map with a LONG bridge, can't remember the name of it (think objective is espionage or something), and then an elevator. When you start the elevator a giant horde will come over the bridge.
Look vaguely above the horde and chuck your grenades at varying heights and angles.
I got it first try with 2 grenades, and I'm a potato. You can do it.

I've just tried this in the meat grinder and you're right, this is hands down the easiest way to complete this penance (works at surprisingly short ranges too).

I found this one easiest on the chasm logistratum mission (the one where you recover the ammo cannisters) when your team loads the last cannister stand to the left of the container (left if you are facing the container directly) you will see in the far distance an opening where enemies always pour out during the extraction phase. If you angle your grenade high enough it will fly over that way and explode just above the heads of the enemy, it may take a couple of tries but this is the most consistent place I've found to do this penance.

Pretty easy too, i did it like 3 more times just now in the same mission just for the laugh of it.
