They use like 3 ammo per shot. So when it's says 700 ammo divide that by 3.
Except the recon Las that is. But the recon Las is far weaker than the autoguns.
The braced autogun can hurt hordes, sure, but that's not what it's good at. It's good at killing elites that are in the horde itself without eating your shots. Autoguns pierce one enemy per bullet and braced autoguns remove any issues with ragers of either type in the horde. There are very few ranged weapons that should just be used to handle hordes alone. That's why we have other tools like grenades, staves, and melee.
There's several types of autoguns, not all of them fully automatic, iirc.
As far as I know, you get the horizontal line instead of ADS because braced autoguns are supposed to be hip fire only.
From my experience with testing various autoguns, there's one that stands out, namely the Agripinaa. It's far better than the others. To generalize all autoguns isn't an option, as I suspect is also the case with lasguns.
You have to conserve your ammo on hordes in the sense that you shouldn't fire more rounds than needed. With an Agripinaa, that's usually one or two rounds on the weakest mobs, depending on difficulty.
As far as I know, the Agripinaa and probably autoguns in general have far better penetration than lasguns, in the sense that they penetrate armor better. If I'm wrong on this, please let me know. I'd find it very surprising.
In my testing I found the Agripinaa to have far better dps than my lasguns. It's not reliable at long range, but the automatic lasguns don't seem to be either.
I don't recommend all autoguns, but I like the Agripinaa a lot. It's fun to use. It's the only gun I think can compete with the Bolter (I've yet to test the flamer extensively). It's got its own style that you need to get used to. I fire it much like I would an LMG. Shorter bursts depending on range.
rapid fire, high damage and balanced
(damege(tan colored) is best)
speaking from playing heresy+ braced autoguns are used not just for hoards but also for special enemys (the ones with guns) and its one of the best picks for zealots
The game seems to treat your right mouse button as "alternate fire mode" this is particularly noticeable with ogryn because their right mouse button usually completely change the weapon's usage.
What the game didn't clarify with the auto brace gun is that it shoots faster and has lower recoil while aiming down.
Big difference I noticed with Las gun and bullet guns are that the bullet guns in general does more damage to armored units while las gun have reduced damage against flak armor and bounce off carapace.
Edit: I decided to read through the tool tip, the brace gun also triggers the collateral effect effect meaning its good at stopping certain enemy type. It can suppress range units which cause the enemy range units to stop firing and cover their head in fear. You can test this in the meat grinder to see the effect.
It's also has bonus towards interrupt maniac meaning a shot might just stop them dead in their track.
The only blessing I've seen for it so far is "Efficency" but that only triggers if you don't fire for 4.5 second.
