Kantrael MG XIII lasgun
Does around 275-290 damage per shot (around 60 or so less damage than the worst bolter roll), is very accurate, large ammo cap, fast reload. Best weapon for your class role (sniping specials and ranged enemies).
Agripinaa MK VIII Braced Autogun
Around 160-ish damage per shot, medium accuracy, medium ammo cap, fast reload. Can be iffy to snipe with (it's not great on the more open maps), but can roll extremely good blessings and has very high dps.
Boltgun
350-500 damage per shot, slight aoe, accurate but with absurd sway and recoil, very low ammo, slow reload and slow ready time. It's kind of a noob trap and it's kind of not. It's TERRIBLE for your class job so it's usually a really bad idea to bring it on heresy and above, but it's perfectly fine if you have a party comp of two vets (one can run an MG XIII and one can run a bolter). The only thing it really does better than the XIII is destroy crushers and densely packed enemies, which is kind of whatever since the power sword does the same thing anyway. Not a bad weapon, but way too slow to clear rooms full of ranged enemies with. Might become more relevant if they nerf the power sword.
Accatran Mk VId Recon Lasgun (Torrent)
38-48 per shot, great accuracy with no recoil and little spread, huge ammo cap, fast reload. KIND OF and ONLY useful if you roll a specific setup with it. You NEED it to roll increased ranged crit chance perk AND infernus. Anything that boosts crits significantly benefits the infernus recon lasgun. Most of your damage will come from quickly stacking burn stacks (that proc on crit) and keeping the burn stacks going, it's not as good since the nerfs but it's still pretty good against bosses and ogryn even on later difs as a meme option.

Other guns/traps:
All the Helbore lasguns
Completely useless. Too slow and don't compete with other options, the charge up uses a ton of ammo and basically amounts to a bit more than 1 XIII or bolter shot. Kind of behaves like a poor mans plasma gun. With the right rolls you can get high damage potential, but it's still not a good series of general purpose weapons.
Plasma Gun
Unironically a worse bolter in all regards. You can charge a shot and it will do as much damage as TWO bolter shots. Also the bolter fires two round bursts from the hip and you can magdump a bolter in like 1 second if you have to. The plasma gun has the highest penetration of all the ranged weapons when fully charged though, and that's kind of it.
Also uses ridiculous amount of ammo.
Revolver
Does slightly less damage than a bolter shot, except it holds 5 ammo, has a long reload, worse penetration and extremely low reserve ammo. A joke weapon that you bring to make your friends lives more difficult and the mission twice as long.
Shotgun
Exactly the same problems as the revolver, except twice the ammo.
Your special attack loads a spread shot which tickles 3 poxwalkers in a horde sometimes.
The single/burst fire autoguns
Low ammo cap and very low damage. Like your single shot dmr style autogun does less damage than the laser carbine that you can spam click forever. The burst one is incredibly slow, even compared to the XIII.
The other braced autoguns and non-braced auto autoguns
Low ammo cap and very low damage, also not very accurate.
VIIa recon las (2 ammo per shot recon las)
Does slightly less than twice the damage of the other recon las variants, which is still very low. It's a very mediocre weapon and uses twice as much ammo.
MG IV and MG Ia lasguns
The IV is a carbine that can be spam clicked and has so much ammo reserve that the ui bugs out (you have 1200+ reserve ammmo, but the game displays it as 120), it also uses 2 ammo per shot instead of 3. Ia is the awful and terrible in between version between the IV and XIII that's not worth bothering with. The IV is perfectly fine for clicking heads, but it only does around 120-ish damage per shot so it feels like shooting a nerf gun, it also doesnt do as well against specials as the XIII.
Laspistol and autopistol
Fun mobile weapons you sometimes forget to unequip going into malice and above after messing around with them on dif 1 farming your weeklies. They do almost no damage and aren't very ammo efficient. Sometimes you even have to shoot trash enemies multiple times in the head, which is very bad.
Any gun is fine up until dif 3/malice though if you're ok at the game, and none of this is really worth bothering with until you're lvl 30 anyway.

I think the plasma gun good on high intensity engagements when you don't have the wiggle room to constantly shoot the lasgun because you're being swarmed. Drop a few elites/specialists with charged shots and then switch back to melee.
I was actually wondering about this. Good to know I’m not crazy lol. Why would they do that and not have 1 shot per. If you wanted to lessen the ammo then just cut it down not make each shot cost 2-3.
HOWEVER.
Mk II is actually bordering on overpowered; even disregarding its charged attack it does the uncharged damage of a MG Ia while firing a bit slower; its uncharged ammo count actually makes it have more shots than the MG la because it only consumes 2 charge per shot.
That isn't however why it is good; it actually has very good charged breakpoints and only consumes 6 ammo per charged shot. With your ability active it lets you 1 shot body gunners and 3 shot headshot Reapers on Heresy. Without your ability you can 1 shot body guardsmen and 1 shot headshot gunners.
All of this on its own make it a fine weapon, genuinely good. HOWEVER.
It can roll a perk called Onslaught:
Onslaught
Chaining Charged Attacks reduces their Charge Time by -4-10%. Stacks 5 times.
This lets you get its charge rate down to -50%, which is actually insane as with 80% charge rate stat it can have a charge time of only 0.4 of a second, that means you'll be in theory pulling off 5 charged shots a second for absolutely insane DPS.
I highly, HIGHLY recommend picking one up. It is a fantastic guardsmen blaster with good special killing potential and Onslaught lets it chain together insta kill lasers to clear rooms of guardsmen or do massive DPS against bosses; all the while being extremely accurate and extremely ammo efficient.
Crucian Roulette
+4% Critical Chance for each empty chamber in your weapon.
Since Columnus can get over 50 rounds in a mag, that means over half of your mag will have guaranteed crits lmao
Equip MG XII Lasgun and a Power Sword. Best gun and melee in the game essentially. If you dont mind and can play around the slower gameplay of Boltgun use that instead. Thats basicly it.
Level 5 take the regen perk and 30 take the highlight gunners talent too. Some of the other traits you can kinda pick and choose.
Edit: I suppose a word of advice on guns. Most of them suck compared to MG XII. Autoguns are bad, Laspistols bad, Revolvers to low ammo (bad), Brace Autos are alright but lack proper ADS (still fun and high damage), Recon lasguns had their only gimmick nerfed (Burn Blessing) so bad, shotguns are counter intuitive for Sharp so bad while also just not being great to begin with.
