game looks far better without all the lens aberration/distortion stuff
The game runs fine for me on max settings but I was wondering why the hell the game was actually looking sharper and a lot better at medium settings, and this was it....

How the hell they thought this "high quality" settings were actually fine? I mean, they ask for more gpu usage and they make the game look like you smeared vaseline all over your eyes.

Never botheres with these kind of settings in any game since I don´t really mind some lens flare and fancy ♥♥♥♥ on screen but in this game, damn.....

Try it, it´s like night and day

It does look sharper and clearer without that stuff but that doesn't necessarily make it better. The point is with that stuff on it's more cinematic and easier to get lost in the visuals and world, whereas otherwise, to me at least, it's 'cleaner', but more video gamey. All comes down to personal preference. There's a reason why movies use these effects too, it immerses the viewer.

i always turn off DoF,Blur,Chromatic and such in any game.
i like my images sharp and clear, not fluffy like im high or something. i even used to turn off bloom for a while but light sources become so ugly that way. almost unnatural.

guess personal taste.

It also improves performance a lot. And stylistic choice or not, I think it looks horrid and to try and get people to upgrade their GPUs since it's so needlessly taxing to make the game blurry as all hell.

are you refering to raytracing? yes i agree, never used it , never will.
i dont even use DLSS coz it juggles resolution too much and sometimes decrease it to gain performance and makes blurry.

i always pay for extra processor cores and more and faster vram. not for other newage mumbojumbos.

No, the lens crap.

Oh my goodness thanks for the tip. I had Lens Quality (and it's 2 subproperties) to On, and I literally just turned them off and the game looks way sharper and better. I thought the blurry/vaseline look was just from DLSS. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ what a dream.

I have visited cinema plenty of times but not once in my life the image was blurry and distorted like with the post process effects in the modern games.

What's next? You will tell me that 24 fps in games is cinematic too?

The post process effects are always the first things I turn off in all games. It is garbage.

Bloom, Lens Flares and Motion Blur are the work of the Great Enemy. Purge them!

Bumping at a more active forum time because I think more people need to see the difference this setting can make.

Plenty of movies use things like chromatiic aberration and film grain and the picture is never pin sharp at the cinema.
