Daemon host a fun idea that turned into an hindrance
So its fun when the devs try diferent ways to make the runs a bit more unique and diferent from each other but its not fun however when the devs puts something like the daemon host a concept of a "mini-boss" WIHTOUT GIVING IT PROPER TESTING (that you will find it ocasionaly along the way) it turns that concept into a Hindrance and A BIG ONE.

Why is it such a problem you may ask? well lets see it has a giant health pool, does STUPID and i mean STUPID amounts of damage, attacks too fast making almost impossible to block (since you cant regenarate fast enough to block) and straight up executes 1 or 2 members of the team but if he his in the mood of being an asstole(you knowh what i mean) he goes for three.

So you can kinda see the problem with this, a broken enemy which gives you no encentive of fighting, cant stagger, it gives no reward or encentive to fight it whatsoever FOR the player for the AI however its a dam fieldday, which maked you swear at the screen for countless times and lets face it at LEAST 1 time you wished to sent this guy to the pits of hell and suffer for all eternity

Now people have shared their experience alreay when it comes to this saying that as long as you dont shoot it, you are fine which i agree however ,i dont knowh if it happened to anyone else, on my runs after evaiding it the first time it appears again not too long after and so on and so forth and the other thing is like lets be honest most of us will be probably with randoms which by mistake or not will shoot at it turning a really good campaign into a dam massacre.

Theres also the other part of people that "shared" their knowladge by saying these sacred words that we all love hearing: "get good kid", "its a skill issue"; "you are trash"
Well in a way to say thank you for sharing their "enlightment" knowladge in this subject i have prepared these words "Well then why dont you try to face the daemon while also dealing with the relentless horde and enemies that spawn behind you without making almost any sound or better yet why dont you 1v it?"
But then we also have the lore people which in a way they are right but at the same time wrong because they think that they must do everithyng according to the lore which is why they defend the fact that the demon host is so powerfull but heres the thing THIS IS A GAME (ocasionaly along the way) it turns that concept into a Hindrance and A BIG ONE.

My point being is that just because the lore says its this or that it DOES NOT MEAN THAT SHOULD BE LIKE THAT IN GAME since the hole purpose of the game is BEING FUN not dentementral to the player IT NEEDS TO BE A BALANCE between Lore that transulates into gameplay but in a way that benifites the player and actually makes it fun for it

Do i think that demon needs to be nerfed?
Yes,
Do i think that needs to be nerfed to the ground?
No,it just needs a bit of tunning of some of its aspects like the attack speed; Damage; or health if one these aspects are NERFED RIGHT and actually gives somekind of reward to go against it then its in a good place But as of right now the demon its just a GIANT MIDLLE FINGER to the players.
Before i wrote this i actually wrote another version of this discussion about this topic however it got deleted because i clicked on the execute program window (giant black square) when the game closed and it crashed my steam losing all my progressº_º

Anyway juust my opinion tell me what do you think

i think its fine.

you can generally avoid it
it does help to not pull it during a horde or before you cleared most enemies around it.
whoever aggroed it should go full defensive. gives you alot of time then if the person targeted tries to fight back (and dies shortly after)

when it does the finisher on a downed player it leaves itself extremely vulnerable. weapons with high damage can focus on its head (i prefer the XII lasgun for my vet) since it doesnt move and kill it in a short period of time

it basically punishes players with no awareness. otherwise its pretty easy to deal with, atleast for me in public difficulty 3 missions

I believe it's spawned when a psyker uses powers too often without a cool down
the point is to avoid it, and 95% percent of the time you can

i dont think thats true. been playing psyker to level him up and havent seen any increase to daemonhost spawns

A witch could be killed with a single shotgun blast to the head.

Wondering how that's supposed to work here, or if the developers honestly thought that an enemy that will kill at least one team mate just about automatically was a good idea.

Honestly one of the least fun 'mini bosses' I've encountered in gaming.

If you're going to skip it, just delete it from the game. At worst it makes you path slightly off to the side, so remind me why it's in the game again? Just a trap for idiots, and once all the idiots learn it stops being a factor in any round ever? Cool...

Just dumb across the board even if it could be tweaked to actually add something to the mix.

We killed the very first one we came across, and have never touched one ever again because...why exactly would we?
What it is missing is a reason to want to fight it. As it is there is no reason. I don't have an issue with its difficulty. But the fact you don't get anything for fighting an optional boss is a dumb idea. especially since it is stronger than the other two monstrocities. Maybe give the players some of those ordo dockets or something.

Pull it, put yourself up against a wall, block, have a teammate put a heal down ontop of you, profit. It can't kill you. Enjoy the daemonhost achievement.

Two classes can just block it essentially forever, Ogryn with a slab shield and Psyker with the trait that has them build up peril instead of using their stamina for blocking.

in fairness the psyker does have to make use of a weapon that allows them to dodge a lot and has good peril cool down but having half the roster of classes with a tool that (is super useful outside of dealing with the deamonhost) have essentially an "I win" button, in my opinion at least, offsets the fact that the deamonhost is a player killing machine

I do wish they'd drop you something as a reward for going out of your way to fight them though like the old loot dice from Vermintide

They took the witch from L4D, removed everything fun about her and gave her the health of a raid boss, while making her an unbalanced mess.

You aren't meant to fight it. If you are fighting it, you already failed, and are now in damage control mode.
