If companies are so inept (which they rarely are) that they can't take their future into account when pricing products then that's on them - I'd rather pay more upfront or buy the additional content that I want later to avoid all these excuses and schemes that are meant to extract more than a singular game purchase could ever bring in.
I have over 4k hours in Hunt Showdown and have bought every piece of DLC they have put out to support the game. My issue is that HOW THE ♥♥♥♥ is it at this state after a year of delays and 2 betas? How? Is it 2 unpaid interns working on this game or what?
It'll never happen.
Profit is the motive.
There are simps and whales who will spend an arm and a leg on virtual items with fake in game currency that is controlled by the developers and not regulated by any governments.
This isn't about passing on costs, this is about greed.
A large portion of the player base is extremely young and naive and its a bit sad to see them white knighting for a company that wishes to extort them but whatever.
only if there is no online service OR if they have pay content coming up ( dlc/expension)
unless you mean like minor update like fixing a few thing/bug but clearly no aditional content , balance etc
How would i know? mine is a looong-looong-looong parent company of Tencent. Years of working with them make me realize that nearly all of us get payed with something that we didn't like.
At least the paycheck is good
This is what i have been saying. I understand they may need the cash to keep the game going. Its likely. But we don't have to *like* the way they are doing it. And frankly, it's also easy to say "if you don't like it, don't buy it"
But i do like the game. Despite the issues, i can see myself maybe getting some aquaillas to support the devs somewhere down the line. But i dont want to do the stupid aquilla system that is designed with fomo and the just downright scummy prices compared to what you can buy. Theres nuance here. But, i would be MUCH more likely to just do a straight transaction. Its not that the skin costs 5 bucks. It's that i have to pay 6 bucks to get the 5 bucks, leaving me with a dollar that is now sunk, if i dont purchase more aquillas. These numbers arent whats in the game, because i havent looked at the costs more than confirming its this way.
PS5 exclusive shooter game.
Great example
