Abhor the Mutant penance not working

I've been trying to get this for a while now, charging into a mutant and killing it with a melee. There are a number of times that have been iffy, but just recently I got a really clean charge-kill, I even looked up at the screen to see I got credited with it, and I was most DEFINITELY still in the charge while I melee-killed it.

But no penance.

This is really annoying. I'm not sure what to do. I know its a tricky penance to get regardless, but still.

just to make sure, are you killing it as IT charges? I'm pretty sure that's part of the penance description (and yeah, it's the worst one to get in the game IMO)

Pretty sure. I intercepted its path as it charged at someone else, with my charge.

The easiest way to do this is with a Thunderhammer. The timing is tight. The mutant itself doesn't need to be charging, YOU need to be mid-charge as you kill it. That means you can't charge, stop and then kill it. You need to be mid-charge as you kill it.

You don't hit the mutant as it charges, you charge and kill during the charge. What's happening is you're hitting AFTER you stopped because the moment you make contact with the mutant, you stop. You have to release your strike earlier. I had the same problem.

Wait until the muty grabed someone, then charge into him. Thats how i did it. Eviscerator slashed right through him^^

I got it while the Mutant was not charging. I did it with the Thunder hammer, the trick is that some weapons stop your charge when you swing, and since you have to be in motion when the blow lands, timing it is a nightmare. So just keep using one-hit heavy types, like the hammer or eviscerator, and charge-slam every mutant you can. Regardless if it's charging or in motion too.
