Gunners are only a tangible issue if you or somebody else on your team does something really stupid, like rushing into a room to attack 2 elites(or anything else with a large health pool), allowing all of the gunners to spread out and get into cover, making dealing with them all a complete nightmare.
Don't let them spread out, don't let them get into cover, and don't aggro large groups unless you have a plan(that goes for any large spawn group.)
Move mouse to gunner center of mass. Click a few times. Gunner's dead.
I sure do wish there was another way though. Something like, I don't know, some kind of throwable explosive, or even a throwable stunning grenade of some sorts. Or if some class had I don't know, a big shotgun that can yeet ranged units even at a distance. Maybe even (and I know I'm talking crazy here) it would be super cool if one of the classes had a ranged, lock-on insta-kill they could perform with almost no cooldown and no ammo.
But I guess one can only hope.
Something that Ogryn struggles with and Sharp excels at. Something that discourages playing any class that isnt Sharp. Specially when you could have 1 of your Sharps just equip a Plasma Gun and delete Crushers.
This thread isnt to say that the game is impossible. Its not to say it isnt fun. Its to point out that the entire game's vocal point is centered around a single common unit. Its not specials, its not bosses, its not the melee horde. The Gunners encapsulate the entire Darktide experience in such a suffocating way it makes me question why bother including any other units.
Difficulty isnt tied to anything but these little bastards.
i'm really not trying to be rude or flame, I'm just saying that I think you have what it takes to overcome these bastards. They are annoying and yes they can ruin many a run, but i don't think they are overtuned and impossible to overcome.
poorly thought out mechanics or being punished for being caught out in the open in front of a gunner?
