Its a Gunner world. We're just living in it.
Even after whatever supposed changes they made to higher difficulties these single normal units are still ruining this game. Almost any issue tie to gameplay or gameplay balance is centered around these little heretics. Difficulty selection might as well be a GUNNER spawn rate selection.

-Why is Sharpshooter so OP? Well one of the many reasons is he has an actual long range kit and 200 toughness. You know to deal with GUNNERS. Although I fully admit having the best melees in the game in the pocket doesnt help either.

-Why is Ogryn worse for your team the higher you go in difficulty? GUNNERS and Ogryn's lack of gun compared to every other class. Also only 100 Toughness. No shield and his passive barely help. You know whats better then tanking? KILLING. Killing the ultimate CC. Having a bunch of HP means nothing when higher difficulties remove Melee more and more. Cant force all the GUNNERs to shoot your shield.

-Why is the Bomber and Flamethrowers so annoying? They make you leave cover and lower visibility so the GUNNERs can kill you. They litterally help you if its a melee horde.

-Heavy GUNNERs do such a laughably small amount of damage they actually make firefights easier. If every heavy gunner spawn was replaced with 2-3 normal GUNNERs the game would be alot harder. Suppression doesnt matter. Reapers least have the beef and physically push you with shots.

-Why does Zealot dash suck now? Sure they nerfed it but all it takes is a single GUNNER shot and it hard stops your dash.

-Why are bosses so pathetic but Assassination targets feel actually somewhat dangerous? Im sorry for this comment causing Fatshark to get ideas but...its because of the lack of GUN. A single Shotgun group is 10x more dangerous then either of the bosses. Hell a single SNIPER is more dangerous then bosses.

-Why is reviving next to impossible half the time? Maybe because you cant block GUNNERS. Those 30 melee units hitting your friend dont matter. Stun em', charge, nade em, block em, or whatever then revive. Heaven forbid that a single GUNNER is on the map targeting you. I dont know why Shields dont block gunfire while reviving either.

I dont feel fear when theres 2 Trappers. a dog, a Mutie, and a melee horde. Just stand next to your team and swing away. I run away and hide when I see more then 5 GUNNERS in the same location. Me and those GUNNERS both know that if I get hit by 2 bursts my toughness is gone and im dead immedietly. 1 Burst on Dif 4/5.

They need their damage, spawn density, or fire rate halved. Id be fine with the weird micro stuns they do if they didnt also shread your Toughness (or 1/3rd of your overall Health) in a single burst.

I've played every class, 2 of them to completion, and I've played all of them on every difficulty except Damnation(only Ogryn). Gunners are simply a non-issue if you have any idea of how to counter them. I've soloed spawn groups of 100+ gunners in hallways with no cover as a level 10 zealot on Heresy by rushing into the group with my F outside of their aggro range, and then going across the entire group(without killing all of them) push attack spamming to force them into melee with me. I have other examples for the other classes too.

Gunners are only a tangible issue if you or somebody else on your team does something really stupid, like rushing into a room to attack 2 elites(or anything else with a large health pool), allowing all of the gunners to spread out and get into cover, making dealing with them all a complete nightmare.

Don't let them spread out, don't let them get into cover, and don't aggro large groups unless you have a plan(that goes for any large spawn group.)

If you really hate gunners, use the recon las, it seems to be made to kill hordes of them if nothing else.

Move mouse to gunner center of mass. Click a few times. Gunner's dead.

I sure do wish there was another way though. Something like, I don't know, some kind of throwable explosive, or even a throwable stunning grenade of some sorts. Or if some class had I don't know, a big shotgun that can yeet ranged units even at a distance. Maybe even (and I know I'm talking crazy here) it would be super cool if one of the classes had a ranged, lock-on insta-kill they could perform with almost no cooldown and no ammo.

But I guess one can only hope.

I'm having fun. Let's see what happens. I've seen some gear that gives resist to sharpshooters. I'm sure there will be some interesting kits after this game goes live and has some time post release to refine. Even so I like the chaos. I wouldn't want it too predictable. Now if it spawns 10 sharpshooters while in a horde battle setup that would be a bit much.

This is very true. Just shoot them. Something not every class cant or isnt meant to do.

Something that Ogryn struggles with and Sharp excels at. Something that discourages playing any class that isnt Sharp. Specially when you could have 1 of your Sharps just equip a Plasma Gun and delete Crushers.

This thread isnt to say that the game is impossible. Its not to say it isnt fun. Its to point out that the entire game's vocal point is centered around a single common unit. Its not specials, its not bosses, its not the melee horde. The Gunners encapsulate the entire Darktide experience in such a suffocating way it makes me question why bother including any other units.

Difficulty isnt tied to anything but these little bastards.

Gunners and huge mobs of ranged enemies/ranged specials while annoying, are hardly ruining the game. Sharpshooters aren't the only class that can deal with ranged enemies. I play zealot and in most my pub matches it feels like i'm the only person shooting anything. Not everyone is having the same problem or experience you're having so there has to be something you can do to mitigate your problem.

i'm really not trying to be rude or flame, I'm just saying that I think you have what it takes to overcome these bastards. They are annoying and yes they can ruin many a run, but i don't think they are overtuned and impossible to overcome.

poorly thought out mechanics or being punished for being caught out in the open in front of a gunner?
