Ogryns are Orks
The Darktide Ogryn is way too intelligent based on the lore. I firmly believe the class/race was put in just to give people the feeling of playing something roughly Space Marine sized or for people who wanted to play an Ork boy, though I have no idea why anyone would want that. The lines are straight from a WAAAGH! aside from the stuff about the Emperor.

Not even kind of. An Ork that size would be exploding people per punch with no weapon. An Ork Weirdboy that size would be exploding entire rooms by simply slapping his hands together and going "stop itting yaself" and "Mork says 'Ello".

just enjoy the game mate.
This is a problem with a lot of warhammer games.

I love total war but the Ogre Kingdoms in that game just talk like orcs, instead of something more frightening and monstrous.

I will say for darktide, I love when he struggles with Astra Millitarum and has to say, IMPERIAL GUARD, I was like, '♥♥♥♥ yeah me too big man' hate the new copyrightable names

I think you don't understand that there are ogryn that can comprehend low gothic speech and actually make an effort to be somewhat smart. It's why the wiser ogryn are chosen to be Bone'ead's or even become respected leaders like Nork Deddog. Sure, they're not capable on a regular level of complex things like repairing or performing medical procedures on a basic level. However, there's plenty of ogryn that are capable of developing a decent understanding of various things, while rare they do exist. Ogryn are like 5th graders, their leaders are around 7th-8th grade excluding math of course.
They go from barely mentally functional morons, to just regular morons with the implant :p they can even read very basic vocabulary orders on paper... maybe with about 15 minutes of attempts at reading.
Yep I have never heard of them being anywhere near as smart as a 7th grader, they wouldn't even try either I have no idea where he is getting his lore from lol. They cant even be given complex orders, Anything more then "hold here" and "smash that" and they start to get confused.
Yes the Darktide Ogryns are far, far too intelligent compared to the in lore counterparts.

Most Ogryn cannot even reload a firearm, hence why the 'ripper guns' are essentially just gigantic AA12's loaded with as many slugs as possible + installed with a rate of fire limiter so the beast doesn't blow all his ammo in one fun burst.
Then they use the gun like a large club.
Speech is incredibly limited, reading almost unheard of outside of a handful of literal Ogryn savants.

Even the most basic of tasks have been drilled into the Ogryn potentially for years before they can understand and replicate it with any efficiency.

But a lore accurate Ogryn would not be a fun playable character.
Dialogue would be akin to a pre schoolers vocabulary.
You couldn't reload, or know how to use any more than one set of weapons.
If using a slab shield, you would suffer from an obsessive compulsive NEED to stand in front of your allies AT ALL TIMES, whether combat is happening or not, whether they are trying to interact with loot or a lever or not. The Ogryn WILL stand in front of his friend and place his bulk in-between said friend and where he thinks the danger will come from.
You also wouldn't understand 90% of anything being said or happening, and would require fairly constant direction and input from your comrades.
You'd be severely claustrophobic and need a lot of convincing to get into a valkyrie or climb through the sewer tunnels.
You won't be solving puzzles to restart machines. You will not be pressing the right buttons to disable anti air defences.
Opening doors? That's a no no. Unless that Ogryn has been highly trained in how to press the big button to open the door, it aint happening. If he understand that the door is actually a door, well that's probably due to the bonehead chip.

Suffice to say, Fatshark have taken some liberties but in this case, it's necessary for the gameplay.
ogryn lack of intelligence is mostly exaggerated for comedic effect in the lore. it wouldnt really make any sense that theyve managed to survive as long as they did before the imperium found them if they were incapable of counting or speech. i mean, they dont really make sense at all (high gravity makes dwarfs not giants) so i dont think it matters if theyre just slightly slow humans instead of completely mentally challenged.
The Darktide Ogryn is way too kind to be an Ork.
dunno why people argue so much about lore stuff like this. gw will literally just retcon the lore into whatever is most convenient at any point in time.

Not necessarily. If we look at animals in the real world that evolved in high pressure environments (like the deep sea), we actually see quite a few giants. Though that may be more from the pressure and low temperature. But we don't have any real world examples of truly low gravity evolution to say whether or not low gravity makes giants or dwarfs given that the difference in gravity between the top of Everest and sea level is negligible compared to the temperature and the 'thinness' of air (i.e., we see plenty of examples of cold, high altitude species having evolved to be very good at retaining body heat and highly efficient in terms of getting oxygen from the air into their blood).

Based on the lore you are wrong.

There is no mention of this Ogryn being enhanced via BONE. The lore states that Ogryns have difficulty remembering their names and complex orders. Also, Ogryns are claustrophobic. How are they getting him on that Valk again and again?

He speaks in complete sentences and can easily converse with the team in a simplistic way. The smartest Ogryn out there, Deddog, can barely manage that nor does he care to. He just does his job.
Wrong, One Two of the ogryn mention a bone head implant. One of hem mentions, "My bone head implant is buzzing." The other when talking about the techpriest, "Am also got a machine head an' am Okay."

As well as a number of other bonehead related lines. One of the Ogryns mentions being of the Alpha Strain and there for the best ogryn.

we see giants in the ocean specifically because the water helps counteract gravity....

...You know Orks aren't stupid, right?

agreed, they seem way too intelligent to be ogryn
That could be the reason they are Recruited in the first place.

You mean they playing the purple Boys? SneakyBois? XD
GW approved it so whatever they are it is lore accurate.
