It's probably because it prevents people from ONLY running 1 map / mission combo because it's "the best/fastest to farm weapon drops in."
This way it at least guarantees that every map and mission type will have a squad available (necessary, given that we cant do solo play with bots atm)
Rather have the maps ala vermintide and a chaos waste mode with random maps and conditions.
hows people minmaxing farming bad thing? let everyone play as they want, its not like u can trade the weapons, and no competitive kind of mode exists either. This is such a bs reason for game like DT
For Beta version, the final version should be around 13 missions across 5 zones rotation per day (It's on news tab btw)
Please answer; If the map pool is already this dilluted with only 4 PLAYABLE MAPS to the point you can't even find Map + Difficulty you want without a modifier, what do you think is going to happen once they add 7 more maps in?
I didn't say it was necessarily a bad thing to min / max. But when there are penances that REQUIRE players to play certain mission types & maps, if all the players are only doing one map and mission, it'd be impossible for new players to complete all the penances - at least until the option for solo play is added.
Thus, the current mission style is ALSO not necessarily a bad thing, if it encourages players to play every available map and mission type, and not just a single one.
Especially when you also look at the setting. The missions are meant to feel like an active warzone, with changing objectives and operations based on the actions of the enemy. As opposed to Vermintide, where it was more a static story told through the missions.
Lastly, 'immersion' is a very poor reason to severely limit player choice. Specially if you think repeating the same 3 missions over and over and over throughout the day is immersive.
This basically means that days could go by and I wouldn't be able to play the map I actually want to. I'm not gonna bother to organize time with friends, boot up the game, and check which maps are in rotation right now every single day, instead I'm just gonna give up and stop playing because most of the time I can't even play what I want to play. This would be like playing Vermintide, being in the mood to run the Drachenfels missions, but it turns out I can't play any of them the first day I log on, then I come back the next and I can only play the third mission, then 3 days go by with no Drachenfels missions, then I get the first one, then another 2 days go by, then I can play the third one again but the second still hasn't come back.
Darktide maps are a lazy reassembly of assets. Out of the 7 maps I've played in the game so far, I couldn't tell 4 of them apart until we got to the objective simply because they reuse the exact same map chunks in a slightly different layout.
