Do we *generally* agree that progression feels SLOW and Fat Shark should adjust it?
I'm just wondering what the general consensus is, because it seems a bit slow in my opinion.

Now, I do not have a lot of play time each week, but it seems like it will take several dozens of hours to just unlock your talents. Seems like some will be done with the game by then, just like Vermintide 2 where people claimed to have leveled up but when I got a character to 30 it was less than 10% who actually did it.

I know people will differ a bit, but what's your opinion?

The progress feels bad just because coins and special requisition points aren't shared between classes, and that the shop (on which you rely for weapon and curio upgrades mostly) spawns very randomised weapons, most of them being unwanted models, that you need to make use at lower levels to boost your rating, with only starting to spawn consistently good stuff once you reach the higher levels

The idea is that you're a loser prisoner who gains trust and armaments as you progress, which also help you tackle harder difficulties as well.

It's supposed to be slow. Are you looking to go from 0 to 30 in a night or two?

Reached lvl 30 on Veteran yesterday.

Gearscore (GS) wise around 370 for weapons.

I have two gun options at that GS, namely Krieg and Recon rifles, plus a 310 Bolter.

Two melee options, a 310 chainsword and a 370 shovel.

Feels pretty good if I take into account that there'll be a crafting system added later/at release.

Mind you my playtime is slightly exaggerated by virtue of waiting for friends to finish dinner, etc and I have the habit of alt tabbing and leaving the game running while waiting.

The best way to lvl up seems to be a premade team and playing difficulty 3+ (Whichever difficulty past 2 your team's comfortable with).

For solo pubbing it's difficulty 1 since you never know what the matchmaker throws at you for randoms and difficulty 2 adds basically no real exp/munies gain.

I highly suggest grabbing +% exp curios, it makes the grind a bit smoother.

Outside of that, the usual keypoints from other games with grinding mechanics come to mind.

1. Set yourself checkpoints (I want to get this talent specifically, for example the grenade regen talent on Veteran)

2. Enjoy the grind (Just go have fun killing heretics)

3. Use what's fun to you, not what's meta (Recon rifle at difficulty 1 turns this game into Doom/Quake/Halo but with a WH40k theme)

Not even that slow tbh.

I feel like it's in a good place, honestly.
Even at level 25-ish it's still only 2 or 3 missions, on difficulty 1 or 2, to level up!

I suppose some people only look forward to being level 30 with all the best gear, and don't enjoy the journey?

Like Peo01 said; "Enjoy the grind" ... but if a grind is all it feels like then maybe take a break for a bit? If you're enjoying playing for the sake of playing, isn't that better?

The game's not even out yet. Don't be in a rush to "finish" it already. x

Progression is fine imo
MeGa Nov 22, 2022 @ 6:32am
I do, have played like 30h and got two level 12 ogryn / preacher.

Specially if every subclass must be leveled separately, it will be a big grind.

In vermintide 2 I was still levelling chars to max after 200h played, and they shared progression...

Rotfl, progression is pretty fast.
Got zealot past 30 a while ago, with level gear close to 500. At the same time I'm playing all other classes and Ogrnn's almost halfway there.

I think it's more a question of what the point of a progression system actually is for a game like this. Maybe it's to avoid overwhelming people, but I don't think an XP bar really does that any better than just providing unlocks after beating X finale on Y difficulty, and it's not like the talents/perks are really changing the game that much for you. They don't think their games should be played longer than 80-100 hours, so I think it's fair to believe most of that shouldn't be grinding and playing the shop gacha.

Not really.
3 evenings for maxed out character feels ok to me.
derw4tz Nov 22, 2022 @ 6:36am
tbh i do not really get the progression, the shop seems to no longer offer higher items it kinda caps at 408;

are you only supposed to get higher items from the weekly ressource?

and why are the level up drops so crap? I got a 125 orange curio once and since then only grey weapons with level 340
Ironslayer541 Nov 22, 2022 @ 6:36am
I think it mostly feels fine, they could give a 6% exp boost though and remove the option for curios to give exp since it eats up stats.

how did up 400+ when i don't loot any emperor gift in 35 games ? other methods maybe?

Progression is fine, they just need to add crafting.
saice Nov 22, 2022 @ 6:37am
I used to feel this way until I just started doing the higher difficulty missions.

Yes everything is slow if you only run the lowest tier. I'm not saying you should be biting off more then you can chew but there at 10+ you have two talents to give yourself an edge and some ok gear start trying the higher rated missions.

And remember kill count is meaningless (outside of your weekly goals) when it comes to progression. Just complete the mission and side jobs and get out.

Also I can not stress this enough. If you got some friends that want to play team up you will have a much better time with some friends that get on voice and listen.

Also there seems to be no scaling based on player level/gear so don't worry about being far apart level wise with your friends.
