Best guns for preacher?

Just got to level 20 and been playing on mostly difficulty 2-3 with an occasional 4
but so far the guns feel super weak, even the shotgun takes basically a full clip to kill a special enemy and i'm hitting all my shots.

or maybe guns are just weak for me cus i'm playing preacher?

what guns should i be using? are there guns that are more effective for preacher or are guns just naturally bad in the hands of this class due to it being melee focused

Yeah, your a melee class primarily. But your guns shouldnt be useless. I think you just gotta find one you like. But yes, unlike vet, i do believe you have 0 gun perks

Columnus MK II for me ... it's mayby not so good at long ranges ith spreed [but mayby if you get better version with more stability it will be better] I just love it it pierces thro normal armor really nice like 1 mag does 2 maulers[chest is normal armor & head is carpace=aim in the chest]. it's got good ammo count aswell for it's power.

thats for lev 16. for now with this one mayby there will be much better stuff later :)

I just use flamer because of great crowd control in corridors/doorways

Lasguns are good for long range specials, ammo efficiency and killing guardsman, pretty bad DPS for a lot of them however making them a chore against specials.
Revolver has good DPS and stagger (can knock most specials out of their anims) and can 1 shot headshot guardsman
Shotgun has good DPS and great stagger, good horde-clear. Can't do well against guardsman or specials but can stagger/suppress
Most autoguns kinda suck, but with good rolls you can get decent breakpoints especially with the slow firing one. Autoguns can penetrate through enemies making them better at horde-clear than lasguns. The burst-fire one with high damage rolls can be very good too.
Laspistol is actually pretty decent especially with good rolls, ammo efficient, insane dodge distance, fast reload. Good lasgun alternative.
Bolter with good rolls is probably your best bet, very good against guardsman and special clear.
Automatic lasguns are great too, especially the LMG type.
Flamer is a mixed bag and heavily relies on good rolls, it can do great boss DPS and best horde-clear, but outside of staggering guardsman it cannot fight guardsman at all.
Autopistol sucks.

There is a boltgun yes, and it is amazing. Kicks hard as heck, but deletes everything as it should. Sounds and feels amazing.

I personally run flamer, for the fact that it just staggers basically every special short of ogryns and charging muties, and the infinite penetration means staggering your single-fire puffs can defend an entire hallway during a horde pretty easily during the "fix the data-interrogator" parts.

Bolters are in the game, seen a video on youtube, they look awesome.

Best all-around lasgun I've seen is the Kantrael MG IV Infantry Lasgun, the blue one.
Best fire rate of all lasguns, with a very decent ammo capacity.

im having too much fun with the shotgun honestly, sure it may lack a bit of oomph to delete elites but you can snipe with it using ADS and its stagger is amazing. revolver / boltgun probably second best choices, we're already beasts at cleave damage in hordes with the claw, no need to run a flamer
